Will our simple wedding impress our guests?

My fiance and I are planning a very modest wedding as we’re paying for the majority of it ourselves and we don’t have a huge amount to spend. However, my sister got married last. Year and had such a lavish affair that I’m worried guests will compare our day unfavorably. I know I shouldn’t care what other people think, but I do. How can I stop feeling this way ?rnThe first thing to do is accept that the way you’re feeling is completely normal. No-one has ever thrown a party without worrying that it’s not going to be as good as the next person’s However confident we might feel, we can all be uncomfortable when we’re on display and a woman is never more on show than on her wedding day. Having said that ,it’s essential to take things back to basics and remind yourself you’re planning this party because you’re getting married ,tying yourself forever to the man you love –and he’s well worth any anxieties you might be experiencing. The only way you can calm any fears that your wedding will be unfavorably compared to your sister’s is to have total confidence that the day is everything you and your future husband want it to be . if the day is a reflection of your personalities, your closest friends and family will love every second. Regardless of how much you’ve spent. This, however, can be easier said than done. You’ve probably never organized a wedding gown before and you’re no doubt being bombarded with opinions from friends and family members. If you’re confused about what you want, I would advise you to write a list of the things you don’t want .Once you’re clear about that , you’ll have a great starting point to work out your perfect day. If,from past experience, you know that certain friends or family can be relied upon to make vocal comparisons of your choices then the simple answer is not to invite them! This is your day and your money –you have the guest list control-so if you really have no choice but to extend an invitation to them. Prepare yourself in advance for any hurtful comments on the day with a strong one-liner, such as, “This wedding is about us and what we like, and I’m so happy you can enjoy it with us”, The opinionated guest will have no comeback whatsoever and you can float off happily to enjoy the rest of your day.
