Winter arrived very early this year surprising everyone with strong blizzards and freezing cold. Many schools are closed, many roads blocked and full of abounded cars, many households facing the difficulties with their everyday shopping and activities because of the thick snow and cold.

Winter was not expected by any one, especially not that early so that means that no one was prepared. Insurers are overloaded by thousands of claims against burst pipes, water leaking, flood and many similar caused by adverse weather.

The most often and dangerous claims seems to be those related with flood. Heavy rain and snow makes rivers and other water areas swell, houses which are located in food area might suffer the most, as the risk is very high. For those households house insurance is essential to protect them against huge looses or even ruin when the house would be completely destroyed. Building insurance together with contents insurance policy always gives the confidence that whatever happens, house is protected. Rivers are the most likely to threaten those who lives within their reach but surface water is not less dangerous, as rain water and melted snow accumulates in drains and culverts. When those are overflowed they might cause the flood the same as rivers can. Unfortunately not many house holders are aware of it when they should be because it’s at least 3 more long risky months to go through.
Flood can be caused also by the burst and crack pipes, as well as lack of insulations in the loft. When temperature fall below freezing the water in the pipes can easily freeze and make the pipes crake and flood whole the house, especially ceiling, walls and floors. Insulating the pipes, water tanks and lofts might save you the cost of repairing whole water system as well as damage part of the house. Floods this kind might make your house inhabitable until everything gets repair which in many cases takes plenty of time. Preventing the damages cost much less.
