Since there is so much more competition these days, many firms have to change their survival tactics. Some decide to grow and expand to include more partners; some take on new areas to focus on and some decide to cut back to the minimum number of partners that they can afford. A Wirral law firm, for example, may decide to go from specialising in family law to taking on criminal defence cases. In this case, they will need to hire staffs who are experienced in this field.

For any Wirral law firm to succeed in this cut-throat business, it is important to remember that the reputation and goodwill of a law firm needs to be the best. People are already distrusting of lawyers in general and this image has stuck. Lawyers are seen to ne a necessary evil, in a world where there is even greater evil that needs to be tackled. This image may be deserved in certain areas such as corporate law but on the whole, law firms are just run by people who try to advise others and help them to get their affairs in to some kind of order.
