Can you find wood ideas for nothing? Of course you can but do they justfy the time it takes to discover what it is you need? Having constructed my fair share of wood projects I came to realize that it is worth dishing out a little money and acquire a compilation of step-by-step woodworking project plans.
Continually being on the prowl for different wood ideas at no cost, I found myself spending way to much time searching for that easy to understand perfect plan. When I look back on it now I realize I was spending several hours trying to find something for free when I could have been spending that time actually building the project!
In the long run if you plan on building a number of products you will be far better off spending a few bucks on quality plans that are straight forward and well detailed as opposed to running around the Internet looking for wood plans for free. You end up looking at so many different pages and options that you just get more confused than gratified.
If you are new to woodworking you would be better off buying a nice collection of plans instead of looking for wood plans for free. I have found that free wood plans can be too complicated for the apprentice to follow, so you end up wasting a lot of time trying to figure everything out.
Or the opposite can be true, there is just not enough information with free plans leaving you frustrated and discouraged. Getting wood plans for free will often give you a nice overview of a project but can leave you hanging without step by step instructions. If you have a lot of woodworking knowledge free plans may be good enough for you.
As you know free doesn't always mean free. Quite often a lot of sites will entice you using the word "FREE" in their title some where, after all we are naturally drawn to free stuff. Then when you go to the site you find wood plans for free that are incomplete or so general that they are not really plans at all. (Just a word of caution.)
Don't waste hours Online looking for wood plans for free when you can be using that time building the project. Spend a little cash and be done with it once and for all. You will be much better off in the long run.
