There is often a big misunderstanding when people are first introduced to the principles of attraction, especially when it comes to creating better health.
Recently, I received an email from a podcast listener who has had a medical disability for the past five years. He heard a podcast where I talked about reaping what you sow and wanted to know why in the world he would create more pain for himself. He also wanted to know what he was doing wrong.
First things first, he wasn't doing anything wrong. He was just doing what he knew to do, which was to try and get better. This is where the conundrum comes in - what you focus on you get more of in your life. If you feel pain physically, it garners all your attention.
Dr. Norman Cousins laughed his way out of debilitating pain and therein lies the key - shifting focus.
When we start to become aware that we can attract through our focus, the key question to ask yourself is 'what am I really focusing on?'. Is it health? Is it the pain? Is it the frustration of the disability? or is the focus on recreating the feeling of feeling good? When we're not consciously guiding our thoughts and feelings - we tend to focus on whatever gets our attention. In the case of 'getting better' the focus is often on the reality that we're not feeling well therefore we create more 'not feeling well' feelings.
Would anyone want create more pain in their life and I say 'NO!' ...not consciously. The key is becoming more conscious about where we're really focusing our attention. When we start to understand that and direct it to more positive means - we'll see better results and at the very least, feel better along the way.
Final word: Easier said than done but that's the way it is anytime we're trying to shift our thought process and focus.
