Are you intending to start the New Year on a healthy note, perhaps you aim to take up yoga classes, to find your inner balance and harmonise your mind and body. Beginners to yoga should prepare with a couple of yoga clothes and perhaps a yoga mat. Yoga is the route to good health and wellbeing the experts say. Originating in India, Yoga is a Sanskrit word that means unite or to join. And this wonderful discipline has millions of fans all over the world. An estimated 6 million Americans do yoga and so it spreads. Well if you are starting out, well done for taking the decision and remember yoga not only calms and relaxes but it also tones and hones the body. It’s a soulful practise and the breathing with every asana or posture benefits the body, mind and health overall. While the frugal yogis in ancient India may have done their sun salutation on a thin cotton cloth, it’s not the case anymore. We now have a huge market for yoga clothes for women among many other yoga products. So after buying your yoga mat it’s time to select your work out clothes for the yoga class. Yoga clothing comes in different styles according to the style of yoga you opt for. So if you have chose power yoga, hot yoga or Ashtanga, you may want light and little clothing on your body. Bikram Yoga has triggered off its own yoga wear and in come the biker shorts and yoga crop bras. These are wonderful if you feel confident enough but should you want more cover then go for a nicely fitted yoga vest. Not too tight as you don’t want the sweaty fit, you want an easy fit. Bamboo yoga wear is perfect for Hot Yoga as bamboo is anti bacterial and this helps keeps the nasty odours at bay. And trust, the sweaty studio becomes so whiffy, let your clothes be less so. If you decide you want to learn the slow and fluid Hatha Yoga, then you need to select a loose Tee and some Capri pants, these will do the job. Mind you, not that loose as you don’t want to be finding your top falling to your ears when you do the shoulder stand. A nice fit that’s comfy enough for you to breath but doesn’t fall over your ears is what you want. Yoga bottoms slightly elasticated at the ends will be perfect for Hatha Yoga and even for Iyengar. It’s not essential to have yoga clothes but it’s a good idea as once you own a yoga mat, and have some special yoga clothes to go with you will feel you’ve made an investment already and you’ll perhaps be more committed as you start you new yoga routine. Regarding fabrics, Bamboo is really quite the best for yoga tops and even yoga bottoms. This cotton wool soft fabric will feel so comfy and its baby soft texture will never irritate and in fact you won’t want to get out of your bamboo tee once you have it on. Organic cotton is also a wonderful option, but do keep away from the synthetic yoga wear on offer. Bubble gum colours and harsh fabric just don’t gel with the ethos of yoga. They look great on the treadmill but for your yoga wear go with the natural earthy tones that bamboo comes in. So its not that much you need to buy, but a good choice will make your session easy and fun. Finding quality bamboo clothing for women is not that hard, but beware of over priced brands. Try and find something versatile, easily washable and comfortable. Anything too tight on the waist and the chest is not good so don’t go for a super snug fit and choose a size larger if need be.
