Yoga for fertility is becoming very popular. In fact, regular yoga practice can help increase a couple's chances of conception. Yoga increases relaxation through correct breathing and promotes circulation to the reproductive organs.
Yoga for fertility is beneficial to both men and women for the following reasons:
1. Yoga stimulates the functioning of the reproductive organs.
2. Yoga increases muscle tone and flexibility.
3. Yoga helps improve circulation, toxin release and lymphatic drainage.
4. Yoga improves the quality and quantity of male sperm.
5. Yoga has a rejuvenating effect of the reproductive organs.
6. Yoga helps to release stress by helping mind and body connection.
7. Yoga balances the pituitary, adrenal, and thyroid glands aiding sleep, fatigue and metabolic balance.
8. Yoga boosts libido in men and women.
9. Yoga regulates hormones and stimulates ovulation in women.
Experts says that the yoga for fertility increases the rate of successful conception because it has a positive effect on the body's parasympathetic nervous system enabling couples to reach deep relaxation, increase tissue and organ oxygenation and improve blood circulation to the reproductive organs.
Stress may account for infertility more than what people realize. In fact, when under stress, men's sperm count decreases as well as its motility and morphology. When women are under stress, the ovulation patterns becomes irregular and ovulation occurs either too early, too late or not at all. In women, the level of reproductive hormones may be affected by stressful conditions often associated with financial burdens, demanding jobs and the inability to conceive within a desired time frame. Also, stress makes the human blood pH more acidic and this can result in less fertile cervical mucus being produced by the woman making the sperm's environment within the woman's reproductive organs hostile.
In addition, during extreme and repetitive stress states, the immunological functions become compromised. A faulty immune system in women may account for autoimmune infertility where the immune system of the woman attacks the spermatic cells, as if they were "invaders", producing antibodies against sperm cells. This condition, which was very rear in the past, is becoming more prevalent as a result of compromised immunity due possibly to stress among other factors.
Yoga for fertility should be practiced by those who need to release stress, need to lose weight, and who want to significantly increase their chances of conceiving. Furthermore, regular yoga practice is very helpful for women who are preparing to go though in vitro fertilization treatments because it increases the circulation to the uterus creating a more nourishing environment for the implanted embryo. Yoga may not be recommended during embryo transfer and a fertility medical professional should always been consulted before starting a yoga for fertility program in this case.
Women who suffer from PMS, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), endometriosis, uterine fibroids, irregular cycles, thyroid dysfunctions, and unexplained infertility find yoga for fertility a very useful way to decrease symptoms and increase their chances of conceptions despite having infertility-related conditions. It is hard to quantify the success rate for this type of alte
ative way to address fertility problems, but anyone who tries ends up experiencing an enhanced sense of wellbeing. It is definitely worth trying.
