Is there anything more satisfying that cleaning out a house from top to bottom? Many Salt Lake City residents undertake this project yearly. In some cases, it’s extended to the garage and the yard —two places where “stuff” tends to accumulate. Sometimes a business will undertake a large-scale cleanup of its premises, getting rid of years’ worth of damaged office furniture, old computers, broken fax machines and other assorted junk. There are frequent neighborhood cleanups as well, organized efforts where dozens of residents come together to scour their yards, alleys, playgrounds, school yards and parks for trash and litter. These efforts are all at different scales and take place in different environments, but there are two things they all share: 1. It’s tough to beat the feeling of personal satisfaction when a big cleaning project is completed. Whether it’s home, office or neighborhood, looking around and seeing that everything is clean, that formerly wasted space has been reclaimed and that masses of junk have been removed, the people who did the work invariably feel a real sense of accomplishment. 2. That initial feeling of euphoria is all too often replaced by the letdown of knowing that there is now a huge mound of trash that needs to be sorted and disposed of. That means separating out the garbage that the city will pick up, recyclables and then trying to figure out how to dispose of the odd stuff in an environmentally friendly way. Salt Lake City provides facilities to properly recycle old electronics, unwanted appliances and household hazardous waste, but getting the collected items to a depot means heavy lifting, finding a truck, then trying to find people who can make a run during a facility’s operating hours. In many ways, the aftermath of a cleaning project is worse than actually doing the work of picking everything up in the first place. Salt Lake City makes this effect even more noticeable —residents can’t simply leave everything at the curb for the c ity garbage collectors to pick up. An alternative that’s becoming increasingly popular is to leave the pickup to a professional SLC junk removal company. This option means having a professional, dependable crews show up at the site to collect everything. No worrying about presorting the trash from the recyclables, no heavy lifting, no concerns about e-waste, renovation debris or hazardous material. The crew will even remove an old hot tub! Everything is hauled away in a truck, the junk collection company then sorts all collected material and ensures that everything is disposed of according to regulations and in the most environmentally friendly way possible. Calling a professional junk collector for a pickup is the perfect ending to any cleanup project.
