Your First Triathlon: Are You Ready?

All over, people are catching the triathlon bug. One of the reasons that triathlons are becoming so popular is because as long as you have a bike, sneakers and a swimsuit, you can do a triathlon! Do not be overwhelmed by any obstacles or fears you may have about being a beginner triathlete. Everything is possible if you believe in yourself! As race day approaches, you will look back at the journey you have been on and feel an enormous sense of accomplishment! Look how far you've come! You may have lost the weight you wanted to and I am sure that you have even influenced your friends and family! What an impressive completion! However, before you enjoy your sweet success, let us concentrate and focus on race day. You have a lot to be proud of, but are you organized for your the actual race? rnPicture this: It's the day before your first triathlon and you are pumped up, but also feeling a bit stressed. You have been exercising faithfully and you feel prepared to race. You load all of your gear in the car the night before because you do not want to forget anything.rnThe morning of the race comes and you arrive to the registration table at 5:03. After you collect your packet, you head over to set up your transition area. You are one of the first people to arrive, so you have your choice of spots. But then you open your bag and gasp. You overlooked packing your swim cap and socks! AHHHHHHHHH!!!! Being nervous on race day can lead to absentmindedness. It is simple to lose sight of something as simple as remembering to pack your swim cap when your mind is distracted by thinking, and maybe even distressing, about the race. to ensure that you do not forget anything, it is a good idea to have a race day checklist. When I did my first triathlon, I used a trial and error because I did not have an easy to use reference or helpful place to find help. Thank God I did not leave behind anything on the day of the race, but my stress level was incredibly high because I did not know if I was properly prepared or not. I did not even know what body glide was and I had a few packets of sports goo just because I heard that all of the professional triathletes use it. As a beginner triathlete, I dealt with a lot of unneeded strain and fear that could have easily been evaded. And so we want your first triathlon will be a day where you remember all that you have done rather than of being nervous or scared that you overlooked something. We want your first triathlon to be a incredible adventure and so we hope that the checklists we told you about will help ensure that you have fun as you feel confident that you have packed everything that you need so that you can appreciate the race and remember your awesome accomplishment!
