Your Super Powers

As human beings, we are blessed with some amazing super powers. These are the abilities we have that can, when used properly, transform our lives from places of misery and suffering into lives filled with joy and blessings. Wanna guess what they are? Love, gratitude, decision, and commitment are high on the list. Choice is always my number one. Here’s the thing about our super powers. They are always there, they have been there from the very beginning. We don’t pay much attention to them, and we certainly don’t cultivate them as a general rule. Over and over we *choose* to maintain our status quo. I wonder about that a lot. Why have I chosen to do things the same way when I have proof that the same way doesn’t produce the results I want? Why would I do that? I have two more super powers. These are the rogue powers -- habit and familiarity. If I choose to harness their power and use it for good, amazing things can happen. If I don’t harness them, they will run amok! You know exactly what I mean. Bad habits that impinge on our wellbeing. Bad situations; work, relationships; that we stay in because they are familiar. These can grind us down, feeding on our self esteem and joy like zombies until we are so beaten down that our bodies start to suffer. Yikes! Pow! Zap! Kazing! In comes Choice to save the day! The rest of the team is right behind! We are saved! When I chose to make my life better, I committed to doing what my teachers told me. I decided to make some difficult changes, leaving people who liked my bad habits and nasty but familiar situations. I began to practice being grateful. I started to cultivate compassion for you. It is worth your time to develop these super powers. It is worth your time to exercise choice to stop complaining, to change our habits, to leave nasty situations that hurt you. It is worth it. And the best news is that the world is filled to overflowing with loving, smart people who want you to be happy, who want to help you get there, who can really make a difference for you. Find them. Commit to making the changes. Commit to living a life filled with blessings and miracles and joy and love. All you have to lose is a set of sad, crappy circumstances. Why do I choose to commit?rn2
