Zeitgeist, The Greatest Story Ever Told

In front of me, I saw flashes of bombs, destruction, demise, killing and all things reminiscent of today’s hostile war environment that is so prevalent throughout the world. I felt uneasy with the shrilling audio that sounded like a cross between acid jazz, funk and rock—quite edgy and somewhat disturbing initially. The movie started with these scenes and sounds which had me thinking “what in the world is this about?”nnThen the scenery switched, and the focus became religion, especially the Judeo-Christian religions. It presented Christianity and Judaism and its similarity to ancient Egyptian mythology and astrology. For many, I know this probably created some sore spots in people’s minds and immediately defenses went up; finger pointing began and accusatory and judgmental thoughts probably entered the minds of several viewers. However, with me, I felt something different. I felt a deep connection to the material that was being presented to me.nnI had always felt like the stories in the bible were myths growing up and not completely true. They seemed like tales. Even at a young age, I looked for a deeper meaning behind the stories and really didn’t take much of it for face value. How I was taught, however, was not to question those things and to just believe them with the fear of hell being so deeply ingrained that I didn’t want to outwardly disobey this. Nonetheless, I was still drawn to the deeper meaning of it all…the deeper origin. I was drawn to Africa, especially ancient Egypt and books around the bible’s origin, so seeing these things made a lot of sense to me and put a broad smile on my face. By virtue of what I know about the Law of Attraction, I attracted this movie based on my feelings and deep personal beliefs that I owned as a child.nnWhat was even more surprising and pleasing was to see how astrological everything was…to reveal that the very thing that we’re taught not to believe is what the basis for the bible was written upon. I was amazed. It wasn’t coincidence that the astrological explanations fit so perfectly. They made sense, and in turn, for me, made the bible make sense.nnLater, the shift was revealed where the “messengers of the gospel” began to change the gospel to fit whatever their agenda was for the day. Most often it was to control, suppress and dominate anyone that went against the higher perceived order at the time. This control and submission was enforced through the mask of religion, especially the Christian religion. I didn’t take this to suggest that no one consider the Christian religion as truth, but consider your beliefs and why you believe them.nnI was curious to see how this part of the film was going to tie into the rest. It left me wondering, “who or what is the anti-Christ?” Will this filmmaker be considered blasphemous? To be honest, I really don’t even know what that word means, but I hear it thrown around so much. Would he, himself be considered the “anti-Christ” or is the concept of an “anti-Christ” something that was written into the biblical story right before the Dark Ages, to facilitate and even greater plan that none of us really are aware of? Is this what this movie is alluding to? Or, could it be us, the people? Is Christ simply a representation of a greater principle that we have forgotten and have been so far removed from?
