Why I Threw Away (Almost) All of My Christmas Decorations Last Year

Growing up, the holidays were always a hard time for me. There was a lot of competition between my younger brother and I (he was three years my junior). We would count the number of presents under the tree to ensure we both had the same amount, to be fair. When it came to unwrapping, there would be some duplicated items and I always wondered why there was so much focused attention on being “fair” especially when I was the oldest.

A Reason, A Season or A Lifetime

The countdown to Christmas is upon us and we only have a few days of 2018 left. How can we make the remainder of this year more meaningful? What can we do to help us feel more connected to friends, family and loved ones? For those of us that do not have a significant other, how can we feel less lonely during this time of year? You’ve heard the phrase “we meet people for a reason, a season or a lifetime”. I’m a firm believe in that concept as I’ve experienced some wonderful connections with people in all three of these areas. Here is the poem it its entirety:

Walking Your Talk

“Walking your talk is a great way to motivate yourself. No one likes to live a lie. Be honest with yourself, and you will find the motivation to do what you advise others to do.” - Vince Poscente I think it is really important to walk your talk – in your business and in your personal life. I began my organizing, staging and moving business in 2010 and quickly realized the most valuable service I could provide to my clients was to walk my talk. In order to be their best organizer, I had to do it and maintain it for myself. This is how my journey with organization began:r

52 Life Lessons I Learned From My Daddy

No matter where we are in life, young or old, wealthy or wanting, healthy or not, each and every one of us has a life-changing event. For some, there may be only one or two life-changing events. For others, there may be multiple life-changing events—each with their own lesson, challenge, joy, fear, stressor or even a feeling of freedom.

Is your glass half-empty or half-full?

We’ve heard this saying over and over and over. It’s typically presented as a perspective about life. Do you have a glass half-empty perspective? Do you tend to look at things with a bit more pessimism, anticipating the worst or seeing what has been lost? Do you have a glass half-full perspective? Do you tend to look at things with a bit more optimism, anticipating the best or seeing what can be gained? “There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.” - William Shakespeare

5 Remarkable Concepts that Will Improve Your Personal Growth Journey

I am often asked about my personal growth journey. How did it begin? What has been the easiest lesson? What has been the most difficult experience? How were you able to keep going with all that you’d been through? There are no simple answers however once I made the decision to take that first step, I recognized there would be no looking back. I just had to focus on one step at a time, one foot in front of the other and to trust there was something better. I felt hollow, fragile and numb. I couldn’t feel any worse. I had reached the bottom of the bottom.

Post Traumatic Growth – Why Recovery is the Best Revenge

By definition, revenge is quite harsh. It means to inflict hurt or harm on someone for an injury or wrong done to someone else. For this post, I would like to alter the definition slightly in the following way: to avenge oneself by retaliating through healing, recovery and self-care. Pretty powerful and empowering alteration, isn’t it?

Finding Comfort Instead of Happiness

I have an interesting concept I would like to share with you. For a while I have struggled with what it means to be happy. Can I be happy if I am not smiling? Can I be happy only when I feel good, rested or not stressed? Can I be happy with things and not people? Can I be happy with people and not things? Happy is undefinable to me. I’m not sure what being happy is any longer and I see this more and more in my business.

Reflections vs. Resolutions

"Well, we have a whole new year ahead of us. And wouldn't it be wonderful if we could all be a little more gentle with each other, and a little more loving, have a little more empathy, and maybe next year at this time we'd like each other a little more." - Judy Garland

2018 was a Rough Year

I don't know about you however I started 2018 with hope, promise and the intention that this year was going to be better than 2017. Last year was a really hard year, not just for me but for many people. Lots of changes personally, locally and globally occurred. Almost everyone I spoke to agreed that 2017 was rough and that 2018 had to be better.
