Loss of Libido in a Young Woman.

Loss of Libido in a Young Woman. Dr Andrew Rynne. What do you make of this? How would you advise? About a week ago, in my Allexpert.com slot, a young woman from South Africa wrote to me as follows: “I have been thinking of asking for professional help for a while, because there seems to be a serious problem that I just can’t ignore. I am 32 years old, married for 7 years to a man two years my junior. Together we have four lovely children.r

Why Can't You Start a Pregnancy?

Causes of Human Infertility. Authoritative medical papers, ranking the causes of human reproductive failure, are very thin on the ground. There is an often quoted paper published in the British Medical journal of Dec 1985 and attributed to Dr Mike Hull et al. This remains as current today as it did twenty-five years ago when it was first published. Here the authors rank the causes of infertility thus: Unexplained – 28% Sperm Defects – 24% Ovulation Failure – 21% Tubal Damage – 14% Endometriosis – 6% Coital Failure – 6%

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia.

Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia – the Classical Design Fault. Lets face it, these days very few patients indeed will consult their doctor without having first consulted Google, Yahoo, Bing and Wikipedia. Love it or heat it (and I suspect most of us are not overjoyed at the prospects of competing with computers) it is now the way of the modern world. It is here and here to stay.

Boosters for Grumpy Old Men.

Boosters for Grumpy Men. Dr Andrew Rynne. You know what they are like. Sitting around all day and falling asleep in the chair. Big paunch and little muscle. Not enough energy to prune the roses or go for a walk however short. Maybe, mildly depressed and definitely grumpy. No libido and plenty of erectile dysfunction. Now, does any of this ring true with you? Men like this, sixty-five years old and older are sometimes put on antidepressants. This, in my view anyway, can be a big mistake.

Finding a Doctor to Give You Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

So, you are a man in your fifties or maybe sixties. Lately you have been feeling a bit sluggish - not quite your jolly old self. You may have noticed a bit of a fall off in your sex drive, the old libido is not what it used to be and there are some complaints coming at you for your general disinterest in matters sexual. More alarmingly you seem to have developed some erectile dysfunction on top of everything else and this is not altogether relieved by those little blue tablets that your doctor prescribed for you on your last visit. Sound familiar?

Added Testosterone the Secret in Treating Erectile Dysfunction.

In older men the addition of testosterone replacement therapy can revolutionise the management of Erectile Dysfunction. Testosterone replacement therapy has changed quite significantly in the last ten years. Ten years ago, before a man was considered suitable for TRT, he was required to undergo a battery of hormonal assays. These included exotic named tests like free and bonded testosterone, sex hormone binding globulin, serum prolactin and luteinizing hormone. All that has now changed. These tests were not only very expensive they were also unhelpful.

Accept the Cause of Your Erectile Difficulty.

Shoeho ing the Wrong Diagnosis. Dr Andrew Rynne. Please don’t get me wrong. I have nothing against self-diagnosis and self-help when it comes to your health. Nor am I saying for one second that doctor knows best and patients should do what they are told to do by their doctor. On the contrary, I am all in favour of assertiveness in the doctor’s consulting room, all in favour of asking loads of questions and keeping the medics on their toes. As one myself I can assure you that doctors do NOT always know best or even know at all.

Doctors Opposed to Testosterone Replacement.

My Doctor Will Not Give me Testosterone Replacement. Why? Dr Andrew Rynne. Doctors around the world still remain sceptical about the value of testosterone replacement therapy (TRT) for certain men. They remain very sceptical against a backdrop of ever mounting good peer review clinical evidence showing that TRT has the capacity to greatly improve older men’s quality of life and indeed maybe even extend their life expectancy.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Understanding Medical Resistance.

Understanding Doctors Hostility to Testosterone Replacement Therapy. Dr Andrew Rynne. June 2011. Traditionally, doctors resistant to the notion that testosterone replacement therapy might be good for one, used to cite the lack of scientific evidence to support their negative views. This is no longer a tactic open to them. Hardly a day goes by now but that there is not some more good news about the value of TRT. Clinical trials are ongoing. As time goes on you may expect to see further positive evidence for the beneficial effects of TRT.

The Folly of the Fertile Period.

The Folly of the Fertile Period. The logic is, to say the very least, fatally flawed. People hold off starting a family or even getting into a relationship, until they are in their early thirties. They want to advance their careers first and a pregnancy could, at least heretofore, have throw a spanner in the works of career advancement. That’s all very understandable and laudable of course. Far be it from me to start passing judgements on these difficult and very personal decisions that we all had to make at some stage in our lives.

Vasectomy: A New Approach

It is well over thirty years ago now since I carried out my first vasectomy procedure. I was working as a General Practitioner in rural Ontario at the time. My tutor was a fellow GP and the patient was under general anaesthetic, which was just as well! Vasectomy is technically a very difficult procedure to learn how to do. It is only after some one hundred procedures or more that one starts to feel confident. In 1974 I returned to Ireland having spent almost six years in Canada.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy. Ever since the results of the Women’s Health Initiative study into the safety of HRT were published in 2002, people have sought safer alte atives to synthetic pharmaceutical drugs. That this should have happened is understandable. This massive study showed that women taking prescription or synthetic HRT were at an increased risk of developing breast cancer, stroke and blood clot, than were women not on such treatment.

The Terrible Truth of a Preventable Disease.

Dhat Syndrome --- Loss of Semen Disease. A Uniquely Indian Neurosis. Dr Andrew Rynne. Being is the business of Sexual Medicine, particularly Internet Sexual Medicine, I had long been aware of a syndrome unique to India and her sub-continent. And while being aware of it and my own obvious inability to do anything about it, I did not know that this culture bound malady actually had a name and was well described in the medical literature. One learns something new every day.

Is Testosterone Replacement Therapy for Real?

In my General Practise, just outside of Dublin Ireland, I now have thirty-eight men on Testosterone Replacement Therapy or TRT as it is now becoming known. The list grows longer every month. Some of these men have been on this therapy for several years now and very few of them would want to discontinue it without some compelling reasons for their doing so. They range in age from fifty to seventy-five years of age.

What is Causing Your Erectile Dysfunction?

Despelling Some Myths about Testosterone Replacement Therapy.

Dispelling the Myths about Testosterone Replacement Therapy or TRT. Today, many people, including surprisingly most practising doctors, still cling on to the old dogma that Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT) for older men is dangerous and leads to an increased incidence of prostate cancer. They do this despite the fact that there is not a single shred of evidence to support this folktale and there never was.

Online Medical Consultation is Here to Stay.

Why Medical Consultation Online? Being in General Practise for thirty years or more has, as you can imagine, thought me a thing or two about people and their relations with doctors. Here are some of the things I learned: • People often don’t trust doctors but are afraid to challenge them. They are afraid to ask for a second opinion. • People often don’t understand doctors or what they are trying to tell them.r

What You Must know About Antidepressants.

What You Must Know About Antidepressants. The Shocking Truth behind the SSRIs Dr Andrew Rynne. Already this year I have dealt with four people, all of them women incidentally, though they could have as easily been men, suffering from gross sexual dysfunction as a result of having taken antidepressants sometime in the past. All four were suffering from varying degrees of the sexual dysfunction called Persistent Sexual Anaesthesia and all four had similar sorties for having been on a medication called Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitors or SSRIs for short.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy. A Freash Look Perhaps.

Testosterone Replacement Therapy. A Fresh Look Perhaps? Andrew Rynne. June 2011. It has to be admitted, the word itself, “testosterone” does not usually evoke positive feelings or responses. In the popular press, the term testosterone is too often associated with reports about boy racers, reckless driving, male aggression, dodgy bodybuilding techniques, commercial dominance, sexual misbehaviour and cheating in competitive sports. All pretty negative stuff.

Men With Breasts.

Men with breasts. The enigma that is Gynecomastia. Definition: Gynecomastia may be simply defined as excessive breast tissue within the male breast. Note, the definition does not say “fatty tissue” within the male breast. Gynecomastia has nothing to do with being over weigh or fat. It is excessive breast tissue within the male breast itself. It can occur in thin men or fat men with equal distribution in men of all shapes and sizes and race.

Proscar and Male Pattern Baldness. I want to shout this from the rooftops. However, I will shout it into cyberspace instead. I want the ear of every young man on this planet who may be experiencing testosterone driven male pattern balding. Please listen to me.
