Emotional Intelligence - Benefits for Leaders

For more than a decade, people from all organizational levels and from a broad spectrum of industries and businesses have participated in programs to help them enhance their Emotional Intelligence (EI) skills. While the participants' various roles have presented them with quite different pressures and challenges, the one factor all these people have in common is the emotions they experience. When people develop EI skills, they are able to become internally self-managed and capable of making their greatest contributions.

They have a tendency to indicate that the program was well-accepted and include other "feel good" program results. In this case it appears the ultimate result was that participants were aware of their reactions.

Emotional Intelligence: Skills for Caregivers

I've heard stories from friends about the agony and stress caused by caring for their aging parents. Their rolls vary depending on the level of care their parents' need. Some are fortunate in that their parents require very little care; perhaps just a daily check-in to make sure all is well. Others are faced with greater challenges. A parent may require the level of care offered at a long-term care facility or nursing home.

While many businesses followed the approach of assessing their people's Emotional Intelligence, this did not guarantee the development of skill. In addition, without a means to measure impact, it was difficult to prove the worth of a training or development program aimed at improving skill.r
