Fit to Ride

Being an outstanding rider has as much to do with your state of mind, and your spirit, as it does with your physical fitness. It is the natural flow of your integrated body, mind, and spirit that can bridge the gaps in your partnerships, be they equine, or not. Often times our extrinsic self, our body, our attitude, and our behaviors, is a sign of inner discourse. If, for example, we make neglectful food choices, perhaps we are not honoring our sense of pride, or our sense of worth. If we choose to live unconsciously in any area of our life it affects the whole.

Vegan - May Your Spirit Never Be Tamed!

I am aware that people have different capacity levels for empathy. Some feel deeply about their own family, but struggle with feeling anything for others. Some feel deeply for animals and children, but not so much for adult humans. Some of us shelve things happening in the world just to get by in our own struggling world. I understand that people process information differently, with some needing a barrage of details and facts and others being more intuitive thinkers. Yet, with all of this observatio I am still confounded by the blindness and self- centeredness of the human race.

Stretches for Release of Chest Discomfort during Pregnancy

Stretches can bring relief to the stabbing or moderate pain you feel below your breastbone during pregnancy. Enlarged breasts may cause your shoulders to slump forward, shortening your chest and shoulder muscle fibers. The pressing of your diaphragm upwards into your ribcage, from your expanding uterus, may also cause discomfort. Upper torso stretches will help lengthen your contracted muscles and provide temporary comfort. Stretches coupled with a requisite breathing technique can enhance relaxation.

Environmentally Friendly

As we all make our individual efforts to be more “green” it is right to mention that factory farming of animals causes the greatest source of greenhouse gas emissions on the planet. It also contributes to land degradation, water degradation, pollution, and soul degradation. How is it any different to kill and eat a cow then it is to eat a dog, as they do in some countries? Is this prejudice? We tell ourselves that a cow or chicken is justifiable killing because well, God intended it so, or because we need protein, or because dogs are man’s best friend.

Holiday Fitness

Taking a break from your fitness program until after the New Year will only leave you stressed, overweight and discouraged. The holiday season is emotional enough with out derailing your health consciousness. Here are six steps to help turn your healthy goals into accomplishments: 1. Blame no one. When we blame the holiday festivities for our lack of responsibility we are still faulting ourselves. When you blame someone or something for the shape of your life you are chasing your own tail. 2. The Balance between needs and values

How is it that yesterday I was on top of the world, and today I am dull, and uninterested. I’d like to blame it on hormones, the foggy weather, or allergies, but that would be too easy. If motivation comes from living a life immersed in my personal values, as I am told by reading Abraham Maslow, or Nathaniel Branden, then I know that when I tap into my natural energy, my values, (Inspiring, Discovering, Fun, and Adventure, - my top four values), life is simply more rewarding.

No Pain no Gain - True or False

Wikipedia tells us that suffering, or pain, “is an individual's basic affective experience of unpleasantness and aversion associated with harm or threat of harm”. The threat can be physically or emotionally provoked, and physically or emotionally experienced, or both. Delayed onset muscle soreness, for example, is a physical symptom, while a sense of failure is an emotionally prompted insult. As trainers and coaches we may be fooling our clients when we dispel the old saying No Pain No Gain.

Living With Disease

Reading O.
