Retreat!

Sometimes we need to go away. Did you ever notice how hard it can be to change habits or develop new habits, when the same old, same old, is around? Did you ever try to think about what you want in your life and really concentrate on changes you would like to make, and you keep getting interrupted? “I can’t even finish a thought!” you find yourself saying in frustration.

What Would YOU Write in a Letter to Yourself?

The other day, I started to write a letter to myself to read when I reach the age of 90. Let me explain a little about writing a letter to myself…. My parents are both ninety years old. I have been observing them for quite awhile. I have also observed other older people including my grandmother who lived until age 95. I am always interested in watching people and observing their actions, and often times I try to figure out why they do what they do. As you would expect, most of the time I come to the conclusion that I have no idea why people do what they do.

Reward Yourself

A shiny star. A treat for good behavior. A bonus in your paycheck. Ahhh…rewards. Why don’t we reward ourselves more often? We think of it for children. We think of it for our employees. We know the concept exists. We need to reward ourselves and we need to do this OFTEN. Take a piece of paper and make a list of ten rewards you could give yourself. This could range from a new book to a massage. To help you make your list, ask yourself these questions: • What would feel really good after exercising everyday for a week?

Forgiveness: Are You Brave Enough to Make this Choice?

What is forgiveness? What does that actually mean? Forgiveness is a decision to let go of resentment and thoughts of revenge. It is the act of letting go. It doesn’t mean that you deny that there was a wrong done or DENY that you or someone else was hurt. It means you choose to let go and move on. You may tell someone that you forgive them but that isn’t necessarily part of it. It is the choice that you make that is important—you choose to forgive. You stop refusing to move on. Why is it important for you to forgive?

Become a Walking Entrepreneur

“Above all, do not lose your desire to walk. Every day I walk myself into a state of well-being and walk away from every illness. I have walked myself into my best thoughts, and I know of no thought so burdensome that one cannot walk away from it.” ~Soren Kierkegaard

10 Simple Steps to Get Your Sleep and Reduce Your Stress!

Sleep is my second favorite stress reducer after deep breathing. Sleep is the thing people will neglect the most. Most people understand that they need more sleep, they agree that they need more sleep, they pretend that they are trying to get more sleep, but they don’t get enough sleep. Adults need between seven and nine hours of sleep each night, and most adults do not even come close to that as a regular amount.
