What Is Love, Really? To Whom Should You Give It?

What is love? Is it a fluttering of the heart? A giddy feeling? A mind intoxicated by someone's charm? Many would answer yes to all three descriptions. We are all familiar with the story of handsome guy meeting beautiful girl and falling in love in each other. But what if the girl grows old--and we all do--and loses her beauty? What if she gains weight, experiences mood swings, and develops annoying little habits?

True Worship: What It's All About, Really

God is happy with us so long as we attend church regularly, sing psalms to praise Him, and donate to church activities...or is He? Does our church activities alone please God, or does He require something else from us? We can learn the answer to this question by seeing how God Himself feels about religious rituals without a godly lifestyle to back it up.

Bible: How Can We Prove That It's Completely Accurate and Trustworthy for All Truths of Life? Is Belief in the Bible Blind Faith?

Do you desire to know the truth? How valuable do you believe the truth is? Nowadays, people believe there is no absolute truths--it's just a matter of personal choices. When we believe that everything can be true, then it means that we should agree that stealing and murder are okay because that may be true to some people.

Prophecy of Doomsday: Principles of Prophecy We must Know

December 21, 2012 came and went, and we're still all here. Whose fault is it that this and similar prophecies about doomsday did not come to pass? Who are we to believe anymore? Jesus had warned us, "Many false prophets will arise, and will lead many astray." (Matthew 24:11, WEB) So how can we tell true prophets from false prophets? To answer these questions, we need to understand and keep in mind of three things regarding prophecy in general: 1) Only Yahweh God Almighty can foresee the futurernr

Intimacy with God Your Creator: Do You Know God Intimately? How Should You Respond to Your Knowledge of Yahweh (Jehovah) God?

Do you know God? If so, do you know Him intimately? And how should you respond to your knowledge of Him? We can know someone in two ways: impersonal knowledge and personal knowledge. To know someone impersonally is to know of the person's existence, their name, what they do, where they live, or perhaps even what they look like. For example, we know the president of the United States. We know his name, what he does, and we know what he looks like (well, except yours truly). Apart from this general knowledge of ours, we do not know President Obama personally or intimately as a friend.

How You Can Have Tremendous Joy That Money Can't Buy

If I grant you one wish, asking you, "Do you want money or joy?" which one would you choose? Yes, you can only pick one. Now, carefully think it over. I know what's going through your mind; you're thinking, "If I pick money, I'll be able to have joy, too." Certainly, money can buy you almost everything, but can it bring you true joy?

Tempted and Want a Way Out?

On a wintry morning, shoppers scuffled through the streets of New York, wining in and out of crowds. Amid the crowd was a young woman walking along the shops with a slight frown. She looked at the toys displayed in the windows, but quickly turned away with a sigh. She just did not have the money to buy them for her two kids, not even for this Christmas season. After her ex-husband had walked out on her, she could only provide food on the table; and at days, even that had been hard to do. Then something from the corner of her eye caught her attention.

Gift of Salvation: How Can You Accept and Keep It?

How do we get saved? What are required for us to receive salvation? Since salvation is a gift from Jehovah God Almighty through His Son, Jesus Christ, accepting this gift is easy, not tricky at all. We are saved the moment we 1) repent of anything bad we've ever done and 2) accept Jesus as Savior. Accepting Jesus as Savior means that we have accepted his teachings and diligently applied them to our lives. Simply believing in Jesus does not give us salvation.

Are We Gods?

"We are God," or "the Messiah is us" is the belief many of us hold today. But is this belief correct? Can we, mere mortal beings who can die, be God, who alone is immortal and cannot die? God, whose personal name is Jehovah, is absolutely holy and perfect and sinless. Jesus our Messiah, the one appointed and anointed by God to be our only Savior, is also absolutely sinless and perfect, because he is the exact image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15). On the other hand, the Bible specifically said that every human being is a sinner:

A Spiritual Garden to Grow an Everlasting Fruit: How Can You Cultivate It?

Are you a gardener? If you are, you know that growing colorful flowers and crunchy veggies require your love, care, time, and effort. You need to work the soil to make it just right for the seeds, water them regularly, and patiently wait for nature to do its work. When I was around eleven, I planted a couple of marigold seeds in a flower pot that was small enough to be placed in front of me on my table next to my bed. I watered it regularly and kept a journal, recording down the date I sew the seeds, and listing its growth progress.

Hallowed Be Thy Name: How Do You Glorify Jehovah God Almighty?

Teaching his disciples how to pray to God, God's beloved Son, Jesus Christ, began the model prayer with, "Our Father who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name." (Matthew 6:9, American Standard Version) When we pray "Hallowed be thy name," we are seeking sanctification and glory for God's name. Putting this at the start of his model prayer, Jesus indicated that our first priority in life should be glorifying God's name. But in order to glorify God's name, we first need to know what it is. The Old Testament (Hebrew Scriptures) tells us God's personal name nearly seven thousand times.

True Prophets vs. False Prophets: How Can You Tell Them Apart?

What is a prophet? A prophet is a person who receives a prophecy, message from God, and then communicates that message to others. A divinely inspired message is always direct, specific, and tells exactly what will happen, to whom, and precisely what people should do. Moreover, a true prophecy from God always comes true in every detail. Predictions that "mostly" come true are not good enough.

Did Yahweh (Jehovah) God Almighty Create Evil?

Question: Did God create evil? Answer: No, Yahweh did not create evil. Evil is simply the result of disobedience to His moral laws. Where there is no light, there is darkness. Likewise, where God's principles and precepts are not kept, there is evil. Some people point to the King James Version translation of Isaiah 45:7 to say that God did create evil. The verse says, "I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things." However, this verse does not indicate that God creates moral evil.

Do You Want Your Troubles to Pass, or Do You Want to Pass WITH Them?

I often say, "Everything passes, and so will your current negative situation. When you are angry or upset, keep in mind that it will pass, so why waste your energy on something that will be gone tomorrow?" Now you may think, "Wait a minute, does every negative situation really pass? Did your blindness pass?" If that was your line of thoughts, you are not alone--I've had some people bring up similar points. Certainly, my blindness has not passed, nor have my physical disabilities.

Battle Between Good and Evil: What Is It All About? Why Is It Necessary?

Question: What is the battle between good and evil all about? Why is it necessary? Answer: Originally, there was no force of evil, because Jehovah God Almighty did not create anything evil. Evil was created only after a great angel rebelled against God. Jehovah created countless number of angels, who are heavenly servants who do the will of God. One such angel was of great beauty and position. Because of his pride, he wanted to exalt himself even above his Creator, and wanted all to worship him--and still does.

False teachers had crept into the early church, misleading many Christians with untruths. Today, many false teachers are in our world, teaching others what should not be taught. As a result, many of those who heed their words are being led astray, believing in absolute falsehood.

Eternal Hell: Where or What Is Eternal Hellfire?

All unrepentant wicked people will be cast into hell, where the fire will burn for eternity. But what does "eternal" fire of hell mean? What does the Bible say? Let us study what the Bible says below about the condition we know as "hell:" 1) Jesus said, "…fear him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell." (Matthew 10:28, American Standard Version) Here, we see two things: a) *Both* body and soul will go to hell, contrary to the popular belief that only the soul will go to hellrnb) That the soul will be *destroyed* in hell, not being burned for eternity.

Question: How do we know that we can trust the Bible as the Word of God? Answer: We can trust the Bible as the Word of God because the Bible is proven to be: 1) Historically accurate: Archeologists have unearthed evidences of certain people, places, and events described in the Bible, and historians have attested to the Bible's historical accuracy. 2) Scientifically sound: The Bible stated certain scientific facts thousands of years before scientists proved them. How Salty Are You?

If you could be any flavor you want, which flavor would you choose? Sweet, sour, salty, or bitter? At first thought, I would want to be sweet as honey. But after careful consideration, I realize it may not be a very wise idea. While candy can bring a smile or two to someone's face, too much of it yields only empty calories, and we all know where those excess calories will end up! All honeybonnie and lovydovy is all fluff and no substance, offering no lasting value. I want to be something that affects others in a big way and I want my flavor to last. So I choose to be salty.

Modern Idolatry: What Is the Idol in Your Heart?

Do you have an idol in your heart? Now, before you say no, let us define idolatry and see what it means today. In ancient times, idolatry was the worship of idols or the use of idols to represent the "gods" people believed in. Such idols were carved images in various forms made of stones and wood, and the rich folks touted silver and golden ones. Idolatry was practiced by many ancient cultures, by both the worshippers of the only true God, Yahweh, and worshippers of false gods.

Do you live a life that is pleasing and acceptable to Yahweh God? Do you know how you can do so? Yahweh told His people, "You shall be holy; for I Yahweh your God am holy." You may have a strong desire to please your Heavenly Father, yet do not know exactly how. For example, you may not know whether certain things or activities you do conform to God's laws or principles.
