Press the Refresh or Reset Button

I recently enjoyed a wonderful "break" on vacation with my family! However, I still managed to smuggle my laptop in with every intention of doing some work and creating that week's Coffee Break. So I put my assistant on standby and informed her that I would have the recording and worksheet to her in time to distribute to you.

Power your motivation

“Life takes on meaning when you become motivated, set goals and charge after them in an unstoppable manner.” – Les Brown What does motivation mean? - The desire, interest or drive to do. - The process that arouses, sustains and regulates human behavior. Ask yourself: - Do I have the desire, interest or drive? - Is what I am currently doing arousing, sustaining or regulating my behavior POSITIVELY? - Am I getting the results I desire?

Abandon all excuses and stop procrastinating!

Stop making excuses for why you cannot or will not do something. Excuses hinder your personal growth and block all opportunities for your personal and professional success. Just do what needs to be done. Why do so many people procrastinate when it comes to doing what they must or should do? Aren't your dreams, desires or intended actions worthy of better consideration? Shouldn't it be important enough to stop wasting time avoiding what you keep running away from?

Let go of mistakes and look ahead with purpose

Understand that past experiences can pave a path into your purpose when you are willing to learn from the mistakes and then let them go. When you harbor anger, bitte ess and embarrassment from the ills of your past, you stay stuck in a place that blocks any growth potential. You stay rooted in the past, letting the present pass you by. Don't stay stuck in the past. You lose focus when you live in the past, when you hold onto the baggage of all the failures you've made in your life.

Be accessible

How accessible and available are you? Do you get so wrapped up in your daily routine or tasks that you are not being very present and you are missing what you should be receiving or giving? So many times, it is easy to get wrapped up in our own lives, our own challenges that we are not accessible to other people or even other opportunities. Sometimes the very thing we need to do is to be in a place where we are accessible and in tune with what is going on around us at that precise moment. Always be present.

Find your own voice

“All my life I had been looking for something, and everywhere I turned someone tried to tell me what it was. I accepted their answers too, though they were often in contradiction and even self-contradictory. I was naïve. I was looking for myself and asking everyone except myself questions which I, and only I, could answer. It took me a long time and much painful boomeranging of my expectations to achieve a realization everyone else appears to have been born with: that I am nobody but myself.” -- Ralph Ellison

The Stuff Winners are Made of

I recently had the opportunity to find out what I am really made of (although at the time it didn’t feel like an opportunity; I use the word here only because it sounds much better than saying I was forced to take a hard look at myself, wondering if I really had the “stuff” to succeed, if I really had the stomach for the path I had chosen to take). When challenges or obstacles arise in your life, it is easy to get frustrated and overwhelmed. Those challenges may appear insurmountable, and you may feel that you are unable to maneuver your way around the obstacle.

Be willing to explore all opportunities.

"Opportunity is missed by most people because it is dressed in overalls and looks like work." – Thomas Edison What a great quote. It certainly explains why so many opportunities get overlooked, right? It is easier to avoid new opportunities than to explore new ones, especially if a lot of effort is involved.
