Organizing for Women

Organizing for Women As a Professional Organizer, I find that one of the biggest organizational challenges facing women today is “letting go”. This goes for several areas of our lives. Whether it’s dozens of 10 year old magazines, old Christmas cards, clothes you can’t fit into (and are out of style anyway) or just things that “I might need later” we have a hard time letting go. This makes it very difficult for us to be confident (or even comfortable) in our own homes.

PURPOSEFUL PARENTING

As a Christian Professional Organizer my solutions to organizing everything come straight from the rock solid, age old proven methods of the Bible, no messing around. I’ll take scripture and truth over trendy ideas and hypothesis any day. You see, what’s trendy is here today, gone tomorrow. Trendy is tactical, not for long term. Purposeful parenting is more strategic than tactical. Purposeful parents are thinking more about the effects of later - instead of what feels good right now.

You Are Being Challenged!

I don’t know about you, but I hate to be put in the position of little or no choice. So I don’t put myself there… on purpose… and neither should you! I know how different it feels when I CAN’T by something versus when I WON’T buy something. When we make ...

The Trap of Being Offended

Wow, how many times a day does the devil try and steal our Peace and Joy (that is promised to us) through people who are nasty, events that are slow and frustrating, or things just not going our way? These are lures (just like a fisherman would use) to get us to feel offended. I believe it is ...

MARRIAGE: This is amazing... did you know this?!

I'm sure most of us are aware that the stats for marriages ending in divorce are at least one out of two in America! These stats are the same whether you go to church or not! What? How can the divorce rate be the same for Christians?! Then... I heard Dr. Phil confirm what I used to wonder about. If your beliefs don't dictate the way you live - except to go to church on Sunday - then you really are no different than a non-believer, and neither is your marriage. Did you know that Dr.

Organizing Myths

Getting Organized is always top on the list of New Years resolutions. It is important because it will decreases stress, increase productivity, confidence, competence, and free us up to focus on what is TRULY IMPORTANT. And you know me, I like to get right to it so... What organizing really IS and what it is NOT: * MYTH NUMBER 1: ORGANIZED IS THE SAME AS NEAT Just because things are stored in neat little piles or in neatly stacked boxes doesn't mean you are organized.

Habitude: Practice, Practice, Practice

Oh we say it all the time: "I have to get to band/choir practice", "My son has little league practice", "We have to get Susie to band practice" It's how we get better. It's how EVERYONE gets better! Let's not forget when we go to the Doctor we are entering into a Medical practice! If we need an atto ey, we go to see him at his Legal Practice! And as scary as that may sound, it is true. We are only as good as what we do... over and over and over again. So I ask... what are you becoming good at? What are you practicing? How many of us are expert "worriers"?

DON'T Only Give Thanks for What you DO Have

We all have so much to be grateful for, let us not forget to give thanks for these abundant blessings... you are able to read this for starters! Since Holly's Habitude goes cross country to nearly 3,000, most of you I have not met. However, as a Professional Organizer I do know you, and you already have enough "stuff". More is not better, in fact, "more" can create a huge mess, much stress, and a very ungrateful heart. When I hear that in America we now have 16 million people diagnosed with "intermittent explosive disorder" it makes me sick.

Organizing for Peace and Joy

Today is dedicated to what I hear the most; How do I get the Peace & Joy that is promised in the Bible? First we must know that we are talking about the ONLY book where every promise has come true and is still coming true. We’ll take the odds of one out of a million for the lottory and “hope” as we buy tickets but we sometimes overlook the sure fire method for Peace & Joy – and here’s the key… money isn’t the way to peace and joy anyway. I’ve been there with the extremely high paying job, title, travel, prestige blah blah blah, but I had no peace.

Leap of FAITH

We all love the “just do it” slogan for Nike, we all love that leap of faith, don’t we? Some may say “Yes!” and some of you may say “No!”, and the good news is… this is for all of you! Let me make something very clear today, you are putting your faith and taking a “leap of faith” every moment, every hour, every day of your life. And what you are putting your faith into affects those of your family and loved ones. How is it we can assume that every time we get into our vehicles to go somewhere we will ALWAYS reach our destination?

Absolute Truth

The Bible is either 100% true or 100% fake – if is fake, can’t be true 100% of the time, and if it’s God it has to be true or He wouldn’t all knowing therefore, not God. As a Christian Professional Organizer, I can follow “new and trendy” or I can use the age old proven methods of the Bible that have worked for thousands of years. Which would you rather have someone use when it comes to organizing your life? Will you trust something just made up by other regular people, or the manual for life that is alive and speaks to you personally! “Alive?!” you say. Yes alive!

Patience... or Patient?

You choose. It wasn’t that long ago that I was choosing the path of little resistance, which is what happens when you don’t make a decision – or even realize that there is a choice.
