Gentleness And Humility

Gentleness and Humility are important doorways to Peace and to the support of Peace. Gentleness must be conveyed in every area of life to antidote the violence of judgement with others and within. It arises from Humility, a remembrance of the vastness of life’s mysterious context and hidden intelligent power. A colleague shared about going to another hypnotherapist for some help and the hypnotherapist tried to dictate what her problem was and only became more insistent when my friend objected. She had a hostility session, a power struggle session, instead of a therapy session.

Why Virtual Reality Therapy Can Help You Sooner Than You Think

Since 1988 I have spent the better part of every day helping people overcome their problems ranging from ordinary bad habits to extreme PTSD. The whole process centers around introducing people to the nature and function of our mind. Isn’t it ironic that we need help to understand something so close to us? Our mind — our thoughts and emotions — is our most intimate experience. Why is it so unwieldy? While it seems self-evident that we live in the world, we actually live in our mind.

What Does It Mean to “Create Your Own Reality”?

Have you ever wondered what is meant by the statement, “You create your own reality”? Some people feel empowered when they hear this statement. Others think it is ridiculous BS. Those who feel empowered by it sometimes lose their empathy and compassion. They may go around challenging people: “Why do you think you manifested this cancer you have?” making people who buy into that idea feel horrible about themselves. But there is a sane middle ground here. Let’s take a deeper look:

How To Keep Your Mind Clear & Creative

If you are like most people, you may often feel as if your mind is tormenting you and there is no escape. Ironically, when the torment is very vivid, our mind is actually dull, lacking in clarity and creativity. Of course we can’t enjoy our mind in such a state and we feel trapped because we lack the clarity and creativity to get out of it. Actually, it can be quite easy to “escape” if you follow these tips:

Dating...Who Hypnotizes Whom?

You can learn to enjoy yourself pursuing relationships if you know the secrets to relating and practice them. Beyond a common sense clean physical presentation (you should know most women like this), the essential secret is to be yourself. When you hear this, do you usually start imaging how you would act and speak if you were being yourself? If so, it is probably very frustrating because imagining acting like yourself is an artificial activity. The first step is to relax into yourself and appreciate yourself. You will notice lots of thoughts, lots of thinking about yourself.

The Holiday Season: Anger, Grief, Gratitude, and Resolutions

December is a complex time of the year for many of us. It is a time of blessings and celebration but for many it is a time of loneliness and sadness fueled by anger or grief. My experience of joy and celebration at this time of year is always colored by the fact that my dear mother passed away at Christmas time. Even though it was over 40 years ago, I can still feel a twinge of sadness. I don’t mind.

It's Never Too Late To Have A Happy Childhood (Using Hypnotherapy And NLP)

"Time heals all wounds." This aphoristic bit of common sense contains very little usable information about the relationship between time, healing, and woundedness – about how time heals. However, we all probably can recall situations where this apparent dynamic seemed to hold true. An old enemy now is a great friend; an old injustice we swear we'll never forget becomes a source of humor and wisdom. But was it just the passage of time that caused these changes to occur?

What Is Hypnosis -- A Transpersonal View?

Hypnosis has been given many definitions over the years, and many authors have debated whether it even exists. These debates and definitions themselves are evidence of what I consider to be the most basic and profound form of hypnosis. My definition identifies the discursive thinking mind (what ...

Q&A RE: Wanting vs. Having: Disabling Hypnotic Language

Several questions and conce s came in regarding my article ‘Wanting vs. Having: Disabling Hypnotic Language.’ Regarding my statement, " 4) When we stop wanting and start acting as if we have it, the subconscious mind notices our interest in having and stops denying access to the experience of the inner quality, in this example, peace," this conce came in: Questioner: Pretending to myself I have something that I don't have sounds like a recipe for confusion and maybe disappointment!

About Courage and Respect: “I do not agree with what you have to say…”

“…but I’ll defend to the death your right to say it.” Voltaire May Rep. Gabrielle Giffords recover. May the families of the injured and dead in Pima County, Arizona find peace and renewal. May we all resolve to promote non-violence and mutual respect. As a hypnotherapist, I find my contention that language is inherently hypnotic to be confirmed in sad and tragic ways in the news on a daily basis. This most recent tragedy is forcing us to look at the level of violence we have cultivated in our political dialogue and at our growing tendency to demonize those we disagree with.r
