HUMILITY:A TOUGH CONCEPT

HUMILITY: TOUGH CONCEPT Every time I get a good reading focused around humility, it causes me to reflect back. I can remember back to the time when I was sure humility had something to do with humiliation, and gosh knows that my life style had caused enough of that. I was not openly boastful and naturally thought I was a humble man. But give me a compliment, even the most sincerest of compliments and watch how I fumbled. It seemed like the simple response "Thank You" never crossed my mind; I always had a self-defacing response.

Do You Do Nothing Enough?

I go crazy when I do nothing for extended periods of time. It can wear very thin. Very often, life is just the opposite, I do not have the time to just do nothing, and nothing can be therapeutic. Can you relate? Back in the “old” days being hyper active all the time, meetings, ...

CHOICE-Cleaned Up, Locked Up, Covered Up or Broken Up

CHOICE-CLEANED (sobered) UP, LOCKED UP, COVERED UPrnor Broken UprnI don't know when I first heard this, but since I have chosen a process of life recovery and the coaching profession, the truth of this "choice" has become very real. I hope that those of you who have taken the time to read this really reflect upon the choices. You are reading it for a reason. Either you or someone you care about has the above choices TODAY! I used to think- in my pre-recovery days- that statements like this were on the dramatic side.

SIMPLE SHARE on WHY

SIMPLE SHARE on WHY Why did I feel it necessary to get "help" and get a coach? My simple story. In 1994 I hit a wall. I was "sick and tired of being sick and tired" emotionally. While my self-employment was earning me a good living, many things around me were going unglued and I was turning far more frequently to mood altering substances and behaviours to "escape". I did not really like who I saw in the mirror and felt a soul pain inside.

AT THE END OF YOUR ARM

AT THE END OF YOUR ARM The best place to find a helping hand is at the end of your own arm. --Swedish proverbr Every now and again a quote comes to you that is just so obvious but true! There are so many looking for help, looking to others to “fix” them and take responsibility for themr Getting help does start at the end of your arm; it sure did for me. We are entering into a period of time which for many of us is supposed to be “Joyous” and fun no matter what your religion. For many this time of the year has a strong religious component.r

Sick As Your Secrets?/Transparency

What a great reminder tonight, and it tied in to closing off my personal inventory. I, like many others, had secrets buried deep inside of me that I honestly thought I die with. No one ever had to know. Today I am aware that these secrets caused guilt and shame daily, and some I had buried so ...

Mirroring

A weekend just past and the first client of day completed, and my head turns to a technique known as mirroring. Funny, as I work with clients to bring out the talent within them, I find myself asking questions that I am, in part, asking of myself. It is true that we see ourselves in others. In ...

PEOPLE PLEASIN' TIME

PEOPLE PLEASIN’ TIME OF THE YEAR I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.--Bill Cosby I am so blessed to have the space I do to work in. Today my view through my windows is of crisp white snow and snow clinging to mature cedars at the back of our property. The view reflects the positive state I’m in a majority of the time, and I am ete ally grateful for the changes in my life that allow me to see the beauty all around me.r

KNOW YOUR DREAMS

KNOW YOUR DREAM You've got to create a dream. You've got to uphold the dream. If you can't, go back to the factory or go back to the desk.rn--Eric Burdonr Way back when, back when I made a decision to go into the “people helping” business as a profession, I had a dream. I formulated the dream through guided study and guided reflection. The first ad I put together for my new business revolved around the “Create a dream” theory and then making it happen.r

Formula For Failure

While reflecting on the early part of my life, seeing and understanding what happened, and looking at how things played out, it is apparent the people pleasing, the need to make others happy, has played a large role in my life. SELFISHNESS

Selfishnessr Every now and again I reflect back on my life to a time before I started what I know call a “co-creative process of life recovery”. There were many negative qualities that were at work most of the time. One that I really regret is selfishness. I wanted the world to see me as a caring unselfish person. Many of my actions were just that-they looked caring and unselfish. The truth was, all too often, I did things with a motive-what was in it for me? I know this in retrospect.r

DO YOU KNOW YOU?

DO YOU KNOW YOU? Once we understand ourselves, the rest of living falls in line. What a great line, and makes me ask the question- Do you know you? At first, the initial answer is likely “yes, of course I do”. Funny, way back when, I would have and did react the same way. The biggest turning point in my life occurred when I finally realized I did not know myself very well. I knew things about me of course, but really couldn’t define who I was as a person.

DISCOVERING YOUR LIFE'S PURPOSE (questions to ask)

DISCOVERING YOUR LIFE’S PURPOSE Questions To Askr Often I’m asked what it is a coach does. The simple answer is to help others discover what is important for them to accomplish, set goals and then guide them to getting it done. Often people either directly or indirectly tell me they have hit a crossroads in there life (personal, career or both) and want to understand their purpose then take a new path. WE ARE "CREATED SELVES"

WE ARE “CREATED SELVES” Shakespeare said it, “This above all; to thine own self be true”. In a journey of life recovery, a transformation to a new and more abundant life, had not one of our real problems been true to our selves and selfishly so? For me the answer to this was yes; but I know today that the self-centered person I was true to was not who deep inside I was. I was being true to a “me” that had been created due to poor thinking and actions over an extended period of time.
