It's Time to Take Control of Your Life!

In my work with clients, I’m often asked to help women balance the many demands of their work, home, and personal responsibilities. In each instance, my clients are looking for a sense of control and balance in their life. Whether I’m talking to a corporate executive or a stay-at-home mother, my advice about life balance is always the same. You will balance your life, your work, and your personal aspirations when you stop managing your time, and start managing your priorities. Time is finite. You get only 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Seven Steps To Change Your Life

The quality of your life is directly related to your standards. A standard is a personal rule or expectation about the level of excellence you require in something, and when you raise your standards you change your life. In my work as a professional coach, I've found that most people haven't taken time to define their standards. Invariably, they've inherited rules from others, leading them to live their lives using someone else's game plan! If you'd like to improve the quality of your life, consider increasing your standards.

The Fundamentals of Self Care

What contribution will you make to your world? Who will you touch while you have this gift of life? The answers to these questions are waiting to be discovered. They live within you, and your life begins to flow once you learn to tap into them. This flow is engaged when you recognize and embrace the power and magnificence that exists in the core of your being. If you’re like most people, this core has been quiet, dormant perhaps. She won’t yell and scream to be heard. She won’t interrupt the frenzied activity in your life to get your attention.

Personalize Balance

The second most prominent questio I encounter as I meet with people around the world has to do with balance. “How do I balance all of the demands of my life; work, home, family and self?” One Thing To Think Aboutr You are unique, and your life is like no other. What equates to life balance for your neighbor or co-worker probably won’t work for you. You must define balance for yourself. Balance isn’t necessarily about not being busy, although that may be part of your definition.

Get To Know Yourself

Eight Baby Steps To Knowing Your "Self" Who are you? What do you stand for? What do you believe in? What engages your passion? What brings tears of gratitude and joy to your eyes? Do you know, or have you lost yourself? In my work as a professional coach, I’ve helped many people rediscover themselves. The first step on the road to rediscovery involves spending time with you, which is why I liken the process to dating yourself. When you began dating your last partner or the person you share your life with, didn’t you move heaven and earth to make time for them?

Establish Your Priority Compass and Live In Balance

Time is finite. You get twenty-four hours per day, 365 days per year. Once a minute or an hour has passed, it’s gone forever. Establishing a sense of richness in your life requires that you acknowledge this limitation, and that you begin to consciously decide how you’re going to invest each moment you’ve been given. In my work as a professional coach, I’ve found that most people are not conscious of the non-renewable nature of time. As a result, they commit their calendar according to what is urgent, to other people’s demands, or in response to what they believe is expected of them.

Self Confidence Strategy Number One: Do What You Say You’re Going To Do

How many times have you made a promise to yourself; perhaps to exercise, to eat well, or to start a new project, only to find that (for one reason or another) you had to break your commitment? In these moments you likely rationalized your change of plans; someone needed your support, or something more urgent came up, and you went about supporting everyone (and everything) else in your life – except you. I have a truth for you. Every time you fail to follow through on a promise you’ve made to yourself you chip away at your self confidence. Picture a piggy bank.

The Need To Feel Worthy

I believe the need to feel worthy is the most predominantly debilitating requirement in today’s society. It is also the desire that is least often addressed or satisfied. Let me start by saying: You are perfect just as you are. I’d like to say that one more time. You are perfect, just as you are. Are you able to accept that statement, or do you resist it? Does it bring tears to your eyes? That’s not uncommon. I’ve met very few women who had full faith in their own worthiness.

What Do You Want Instead?

As I’ve worked with clients throughout my career as a coach, I’ve noticed that it’s usually pretty easy for most people to give voice to their dissatisfaction. It’s not a difficult thing to define that you’re overweight, in debt, or that your relationship isn’t working. While painful, those realities are generally pretty obvious. What I’ve seen people have a more challenging time with is the process of giving voice to the alte ative circumstances they seek.
