Developing Your Intuitive Skills

A great tool to help you with your journey towards tapping into your intuitive self is to keep a Psychic journal. Keep it with you, so you can jot notes down as they come up. Write down any strange coincidences. Do you keep running into the same person? Do you see someone that you just thought of even though you haven seen him or her for a long time? Have you heard the same song over and over again from different sources? Has a friend of your just said something that you know in your Soul is "true"? Are you continuously seeing the same number, color, animal or anything at all?

Litterbugs Be Gone

When I was six years old my teenage babysitter walked with me and my brother to get a drink from a fast food place. I may not be a fan of anything fast-food these days, but back then a milk shake was a treat that I delighted in. Considering it was a hot summer day, the frozen chocolate tantalized my childhood taste buds. After I savored every last sip, I was at a loss with what to do with my now empty paper cup, lid and straw. There wasn't a garbage can in sight.

OUR OWN PATHS

It fascinates me how lessons are learned. Sometimes it’s in the midst of observing a painful dialogue between others. The other night, I had one such experience. While socializing with three other women, we were all getting to know one another better when one of them brought up a painful subject that was very much part of her life. While I chose to listen, the other two were determined to set this woman straight. It was their thought that she could not be healed unless they saw things her way.

Scientific Adam & Scientific Eve

A long time ago, when humanity was still young, a small group of people lived in either the southern or eastern part of Africa. Living amongst these peoples were a man, known to scientists today as Scientific Adam and a woman, known as Scientific Eve. It is now understood that each male living today is descended from Scientific Adam and every person living today carries the gene from Scientific Eve. Even though there were several people alive at that time, these two individuals became the parents of us all.

THE TURNING POINT

There were three of us seated in the living room. The internet and cable was down so we were spending more time reading and talking. It was a good thing. Marion suggested that we all talk about the strangest metaphysical experience we have ever had. I thought to myself there were too many to count, but I would narrow it down to a few.

Reiki at a Distance

If you are looking to have a REIKI session, but just can't find the time or simply do not know a REIKI practitioner in your area then distant REIKI may be the method for you. As a form of energy, REIKI does not follow the same linear way of thinking that we humans do. It can travel across time and space. Sending REIKI to someone in India, while you are in San Francisco is not a problem. Or sending it to the past to heal your feelings about an event is also a possibility.

SIMPLY FOR THE EXPERIENCE

In a scene from the movie Generations based on the series Star Trek: The Next Generation, Data, who is an android, has an “emotion” chip installed into his hard drive. For the first time in his life he was able to experience a vast array of emotions. His first stop was to sample a beverage in Ten-Forward, the ship’s pub. He pinched his face in an array of grimaces as he swallowed the liquid, trying to figure out what the proper response would be. Guinan the bartender chimed in that she thought he hated it. “YES! I HATE THIS!” he agreed enthusiastically in his detestation of the drink.

Connecting with Mother Earth at the Stupa

It doesn't matter how many times I visit a place; I will always see new things and have a completely different experience. On my first visit to the Stupa, I spent time in a seated meditation, while facing the Stupa itself. This morning, I was guided to pay attention to Mother Earth. So, that is exactly what I proceeded to do.

A Shamanic Birthday Walk

Today is the start of my forty-sixth year on this Earth and I wanted to celebrate this morning by enjoying what the Earth has to offer. I have been house-sitting near Airport Trail for a month and even though I walk it nearly every day, I never grow tired of it. Waking up at the crack of dawn, I put on my baseball cap to shield the early sun from my eyes and headed out the door. I wondered what I would see on my travels on this day only to be happily surprised by the amount of visitors crossing my path.

LIFE JUST IS

We each have several defining moments in our lives; college graduation, marriage, and the birth of a child are just a few examples. A powerful moment can also be when we make a sudden realization, allowing a shift in consciousness. Some may only have one epiphany in a lifetime, others may have several a week; but either way, these shifts are important to not only the individual but the collective unconscious as a whole. When one benefits, we all benefit.

Full Moon Rising

If you are in the mood for being footloose and fancy free and wish to raise your vibration in the process, then step out to the Templeton Trail at Cathedral Rock for the full moon drumming circle. It truly is a magical event where participants are encouraged to explore the Divine in their own way. People gather for this monthly celebration, bringing their drums, rattles, colorfully lighted hula hoops, chairs, dogs, and of course, their booty to do a little shaking if they so desire.

HIBE ATE

As the winter solstice approaches and the days are becoming shorter, it fascinates me how once again I am in need of more sleep tha I do during the spring and summer months. As do so many I played by the rules of linear time for decades, setting my alarm clock at a certain time to blast me up and out of bed. Interestingly enough when the days are longer I wake up naturally around 4:00 to 5:00 am, having to turn off the alarm before it scares me while sipping my morning tea making me jump and throw hot water to all corners of the room.

The Amitabha Stupa

As soon as I arrived in Sedona two and half months ago, I have repeatedly heard people mentioning the Amitabha Stupa to me. Additionally, I have seen posters and charitable donation boxes with pictures of the Stupa around town. It seemed to me that I was being guiding to make my own pilgrimage to this sacred space. So, taking a cue from the Universe, I paid heed to my Inner Wisdom and made my journey there.

Taking Time for Myself

As I reflect upon the events in my life over the past year, I discover that part of my learning in Sedona has been about taking time for me—and enjoying it. As an American, it is part of our cultural dynamic to work 40, 80 even 120 hours a week. We are not considered a success if we don’t tow this incredibly challenging line. So, we do it. I certainly used to do it. I would come home exhausted, craving a glass of wine in order to drown my sorrows, while trying to achieve some semblance of relaxation or at least escape—if only for a moment.

Science Meets Mysticism

When most people think of mysticism, they certainly don’t associate it with science. I recently discovered that both Einstein and Newton, two of the greatest scientific minds of all time, were practicing mystics. To be fair, it is likely that neither historical figure had an inkling that they were practicing mysticism. They weren’t spewing out religious ideologies to followers, but they did indeed use this esoteric form of gathering information to complete their studies.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

Intuition is a fascinating thing. As all of our intuitive abilities are either beginning or continuing to develop, more and more of us are seeing the future. Events in our minds are revealing themselves before they actually happen in the real world. This phenomenon is emerging due to the fact that the walls our physical beings have built up separating us from our Divine Truths for several millennia are coming down. This is enabling us to remember our spiritual contracts written before our inca ations on Earth this time around.

The Venus Transit & Me

Any inkling of doubt that I ever had regarding whether or not I am energetically connected to astrological phenomenon has been washed away by the events of a few evenings ago. It was then as I sat reading in my favorite café when my stomach began to ache. I wondered if I had eaten too much or if I had some sort of instant food poisoning, but neither of those things seemed quite right. I continued reading from my Kindle while rubbing my stomach when I received the download from the Universe about what was going on.

What Goes Around Comes Around

Have you ever walked by a homeless person and scoffed at them? They are dirty. They smell. They live on the streets. They are far below you on the scale of grace and etiquette. Why bother paying attention to them at all? They don’t deserve even a second look from you. Au contraire, mon ami. That homeless person is you. Maybe you don’t live on the streets. Maybe you are fortunate to have the ability to bathe every day. But, each and every one of us represents the cosmic whole. As such when you hurt another, you are only hurting yourself.

Cutting Up the Drama Card

Recently, I was out of money again and the last day of my house-sitting job was quickly approaching. I had nowhere to go and couldn’t afford a hotel room. I asked someone in the U.S. for a loan which would allow me to rent an apartment for 6 weeks until my next house-sitting assignment. I estimated how much it would be and was told that the money would be deposited in my account on Monday morning, which meant Monday night for me. This was cutting it close as I had to be out of the house I was watching the following morning, but I was grateful nonetheless.

The Closing Ceremony

Yesterday was the last day of my 46th year and I kept hearing as much in my mind. As the thought continuously made itself known to me, I decided to revel in the fact that an ending and therefore a beginning was taking place. I looked at my surroundings as though this was the last time I would see everything—and in fact, in a way it was true. I will never be that person I was yesterday again since today, I am who I am in this moment of now. It was refreshing to see the world in this Light.

The Importance of Receiving

Yesterday morning I rushed out the door in order to make it to work on time. I noticed there were leaves all over the patio. I dutifully picked up the broom in order to sweep, but within about 2 ½ seconds I realized I didn’t have enough time. So, I begrudgingly put the broom back in its home. I like to come home after work to a nice clean comfortable space, but the leaves were going to have to wait.

Just Another Life: A Story About Reinca ation

As a westerner, I grew up thinking reinca ation was a nonsensical belief that did not exist. I distinctly remember in the 70’s, my uncle’s wife at the time discussing her belief on the subject and all the other adults thought she was crazy. So, as an 8 year old, I took their stance as well. When you died, you either didn’t exist anymore or perhaps it was possible that you went to an etheric place called Heaven, but coming back was simply not an option. As time progressed and I found myself in adulthood, I began reassessing my original thought process.

THE FOOD PYRAMID, PROCESSED FOODS & ALLERGIES

Many of us may remember the food pyramid that was taught in school. The government thought it was a good idea to teach Americans how to eat properly. The pyramid, or more aptly the triangle is designed to show how many servings of each type of food should be eaten on a daily basis. The bottom of the triangle holds the largest space and thus it contains the largest portion of servings; eight glasses of water. As the triangle gets smaller, the servings of each type of food gets smaller, as well, with the top reserved for fats, oils and sweets.

HINDSIGHT IS 20/20

A friend of mine is currently going through a rough break-up. Her emotions are all over the place. She wants to move-on from her partner, but she is confused. Reiki for Burns

Yesterday, after boiling water in the tea kettle, I reached out to move the frying pan out of the way. What I did not realize is that the handle for the pan had been placed above the burner I had been using and as I reached for it, I scortched the skin running from my little finger to my wrist. A loud crash ensued as I dropped the metallic object onto the stove. Its contents flew everywhere, all while my voice projected a painful scream.

Facing My Fears with a Pink Jeep

My friend decided to surprise me by purchasing two tickets on a couple of the Pink Jeep Tours in Sedona. The ubiquitous pink jeep is hard to miss in town. They are simply everywhere. Message from Peacock for December 21st, 2012

Peacock has been making itself known to me in the last several weeks. The magnificence of the Peacock astounds me with its royal blues and greens which symbolize not only a sense of royalty, but also the heart and throat chakras. The heart chakra is in charge of our Love aspect and the throat dictates our self-expression and sense of truth. Therefore, the two colors together can mean communicating clearly through Love, which seems to be a perfect way to live.

With all the football games blasting on the television sets, as well as the never ending sea of food that fills our stomachs until we can no longer button up our pants, it's no wonder we have lost site of what this holiday is really about.

Breathing in Life

It would seem that breathing would be a no-brainer since, thanks to the limbic or primitive brain, we do it automatically every second of every day usually without paying much thought to it. Unfortunately, when we don't breathe consciously, we end up missing out on a whole lot of good stuff. For one thing, we have a tendency to not use the full capacity of our lungs, when taking in air. Air is the energetic life force that supports our mind, body and Spirit, yet we don't take full advantage of the offering. It's sort of like hitting a home run, but then stopping at first or second base.

GROUNDING

What is grounding and why is it so important? Sometimes people have a tendency to live in the clouds, most especially those whose awareness is connected to Spirit. Part of our learning experience is to figure out how to balance between ‘living in the stars’ and keeping our ‘feet on the ground.’ Life is filled with dualities, good & bad, hot & cold, wet & dry and learning to balance between our Spiritual as well as our physical natures at the same time is no exception.

THE PSYCHIC SENSES

Psychic senses come in many forms. Most people know about clairvoyance, but I wanted to list the rest of the “clair-s” so that you are familiar with them all. You may have one or more of the following, but usually one is stronger than the others in each individual. -Clairvoyance - I thought I would start with the easiest. Clairvoyants see visions in their mind. You may have the impression that this is the only way to psychically know something, but don’t limit yourself to this way of thinking. There are other ways too.

Snow, Snow, Snow

I spent much of last Monday gazing at the snow as it gingerly floated to the ground. Growing up in the Bay Area, I never had much experience with snow—at least not until I moved to Paris a few years ago. France had experienced one of its coldest winters and while it wasn't too common for snow to show up in this part of the country, it seemed to blanket the countryside for months. Not being particularly prepared for snow weather, I ended up slipping and sliding all over the place in my tennies.

The Control Freak

As a lucid dreamer, I feel all the emotions during dreamtime that I do while I am awake. Last night, I dreamt that I was working in a retail store. In the dream, I had helped an overbearing woman no one else wanted to deal with. She purchased many things and I was happy, but the scene skipped to a few days later when she wanted to return every single thing, except for one skirt and one shirt. The woman then walked outside. I followed her to find her basking on the sun in a lounge chair which rested on a large wooden deck.

A Lesson from Mesquite

People often ask me if I would take a walk with them. In general, I say no, because my daily walk is my sacred time to connect with nature. It is my version of going to church. I spend time communing with the elements and all the Beings that surround me and it is truly a Divine experience. When I am with others, I cannot "hear" what these Beings are trying to tell me as I am idly chit-chatting and cannot focus on the joyful active meditation. So, unless I am teaching my Meditation and Nature Walk Class I usually walk alone.
