Endless Tapes

Endless Tapes Kids don’t have endless tapes. We interact, we express ourselves, and then we forgive, forget, and move on. We do not clutter our minds and our energy with the negative. Adults have tapes, your endless tapes, are those stories you tell yourselves over and over again. Often, it has to do with a situation you constantly relive, and carry it forward in your mind and play it again and again. You relive the story and a future that you imagine. How often do you play your endless tapes in your mind?

What Course are YOU on?

What course are you on? Are you consciously on any course? Or, are you drifting and going wherever the tide, the winds, and the currents take you? If you don’t know where you are going, how will you know when you get there? Just like your life, a ship can change it’s course by one degree and end up on a different continent. Small changes in course result in huge changes over time. You don’t have to change the world in one day, nor do you have to become a new person in one day. But, you can make the most important change in course in an instant. You’re overweight.

Aggressive

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh, findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.” Be aggressive, be all that you can be. If not aggressive, what? You miss all the shots you don't take, you have to engage to win, you have to engage to practice and learn. Whom do you admire? Someone who sits on the sidelines? Whom do you respect? Someone who never does anything? Who is fun to be with?

The Rules

It's me, Cameron. So, being less than two, I guess you expect me to write about the rules of the sandbox. Well, you are partly correct. The rules of the sandbox are no different than the rules of the game, and the rules of the game are about the game of life. We were all born knowing the rules of life. As little kids we know and live the rules most of the time. Sure, we get selfish, and sometimes we don't share but, after all, we are human. The fact that we all violate the rules at times does not mean we don't know the rules.

Eulogy

What did you add to your eulogy today? This week? This month? This year? Yes, you are writing your eulogy every day. Writing it based on what you do and what you don’t do. It’s what is not done that upsets us the most. It’s the what we could have done, could have been, could have, had, had we made the effort, had we started, had we had the courage. Fear is the problem. Fear of failure. Fear of ridicule. Fear of making a mistake. In addition to writing your obituary, you should also write your eulogy. Who will speak? Family? Friends? Business associates? Someone you mentored?

BUDGET

Did you make your budget for 2011? Did you finish it? A budget is not just money and spending. Ideally, we have a budget for: MONEY Expenses (mortgage, food, Taxes, school, clothing etc. Savingsr Play (vacations, etc.) Tithingr Things (cars, boats, toys) TIME Work Rest Family Learningr Giving Back (Community) Vacation Time is our great asset. Some people manage their time and get far more done than others. They plan their year in advance and then work the plan. There is much wasted time if one does not have a plan. Make a plan and you will get more done and feel better.

Questions

What am I afraid of? Personally? Financially? ? In business? Family? Relationships? Remember, Ben Franklin said, A few of the things I worried about actually happened.” IF I was not afraid, what would I do? Personally? Financially? In business? Family? Relationships? What do I want? What am I trying to avoid? What is the elephant in the room? What's holding me back? What's the worst that can happen to me? Kids are fearless. I was a kid once. When and how did I lose my fearlessness? You already know the answers to the questions.

Answers

You already have the answers. Remember the story of the farmer looking for gold? He sold his farm, traveled out west, mined the rivers for years and never found gold. Back home, at his old farm, the new owner found gold in the river that ran through the farm. You already know the answer. The answer is within. If you know the question, you know the answer. It may not be in your head, your head may give you misleading answers, but your heart knows. You heart knows the answer, and knows the right answer. Why do people avoid the answer their heart gives them?

Regrets

Regrets? I have none. Like yourself, I came to earth to live life to the fullest, to learn, to grow, to share, and to enjoy the adventure. Do you remember that you did the same? What happened? When did you stop living life to the fullest? That must be the time you started with regrets. What you have done in the past is gone, and how you view it changes as you change. Sure, I have already done some things you might think I should regret. Well, I may be sorry, I might wish I hadn't done them; but I also know I learned from them, and they were of value.

Bold

Be bold. I'm a kid and I'm bold. How about you? When did you stop being bold? What is the last truly bold thing you did? Here are some of the bold things I've done, so far: ??Learned to eat food . . . Learned to crawl . . . Learned to stand up . . . ?Learned to walk . . . Learned to talk You don't remember how hard it was to stand up or walk. It is bold and it takes time, effort, and a lot of falling down. But I did it, and you did it. It was non-optional behavior. Adults were doing it, and I was going to do it.

Be Uncomfortable

Be uncomfortable. To be comfortable is to be less than you are meant to be. To be uncomfortable is to stretch yourself to be the best you can be. It is to learn, to grow, to try new things, and to expand your horizons. Uncomfortable is another way of saying living your life to the fullest. When comfortable we are not growing or engaging fully in life. Yes, we need to be and should be comfortable. Comfort is a rest, a recharging of our spirit and our bodies. We all want a comfortable life of enough money, friends, a place to live, and things to do.

Priorities

What are your priorities? Is it to survive the day? Is it to respond to whatever comes? Is it to do what others ask you to do? Bouncing from one item to another is exhausting and unfulfilling. Just doing what comes along leaves people feeling they accomplished little, if anything, at the end of the day. Do you want to accomplish something today and feel good about it, and yourself, at the end of the day? More is too much.

The END

The end sounds final, ominous, and frightening to many. How about you? Are you ready for the end? Are you ready to accept the end? What will you do at the end? In all that we do, we should start with the end in mind. What is the end of this project, goal, or adventure? Only in focusing on the end, the accomplishment, the finished product, or the results, will we be able to chart the course necessary. We are like ships. We go from one port to another. The key is to know where you are going before you leave the dock.

BUCKET LIST

Have you written your Bucket List? Have you scheduled your Bucket List? A Bucket List is a list of things you want to do before you die. It’s those things in your mind that you want but, too often, just leave as a future wish while life passes you by. At the end of life, the biggest regret people have is things not done, things not attempted, and risks not taken. At the end, it’s too late. Now is the time to do the Bucket List. First, sit down and make a list of what you’d like to do, to own, to learn, and places to go. A list for each one such as: To ownr Sports carr Ski homer
