Solopreneurs: Strategy Change is the Solution!

There have been lots of new business lessons that the puppy has taught me over the last week, but none as big as tenacity. What the puppy wants the puppy will get, and not because he is bossy or begging, but because he is willing to use strange strategies. Giving up is not an option- strategy change is the solution. This made me think back on the last 3 years and building my own business. I realized I had done pretty much the same thing. To win in the game of business you have to be willing to change strategies. You also must be comfortable with failing.

Let's Stop This Rumor

There is a nasty rumor in the business world. Coaches, healers, helpers, "well, 'those people' just aren't serious about business." I hear it all the time and there are some facts to back it up. Typically, helping professions earn less, focus less on numbers, and carry more debt. According to Forbes.com: The salary of a life coach is six figures for only 10 to 20 percent of coaches. Since the median salary for life coaches in the United States is only $30,000 to $40,000 per year, it means that there are a lot of coaches who are making much less than $30,000.

I had a need to be right for a long time. Maybe about 30 years - it kept me in a job I hated, my max earning was about $50k, I had no free time, and had created a situation where I could hardly make any of my own decisions. Fat, Gay, & Broke

May I be the first to point out my obvious obstacles and some just may surprise you! LOL Yep, I am overweight. Yep, I am gay. Yep, I was broke. Leaders are key in business and motivation, but if you truly want to make money you need to be a follower. I was thinking of two very special clients tonight who have experienced some very massive success in 6 months. When Paige and Brian came to me they were barely getting by (and this is NO exaggeration). They needed help in their business and they needed direction. My mentor says, "Suzanne, You must get comfortable with being uncomfortable". Ugh. That is so hard. I know why....I get it. My other mentor says "business is messy".
