MONEY TALKS! AND IT SAYS: "GOODBYE!"

Over the years I’ve taught several adult Sunday school classes about Christian Financial management. Much of the material I gleaned from several of the excellent books that are available. In addition, as a result of much study, I’ve discovered that there are over eight hundred places in the Bible where God tells us how to be good money managers for Him. I suggest you get a concordance and look up the passages for yourself. In the meantime, here are some of the things that I discuss with my CFM classes; perhaps they’ll help you when you think about money and stewardship:

Take Time To Sharpen Your Saw

All that happened in the past is now locked in the frozen sea of our memories. So, as we leave those events behind and stride confidently into tomorrow, I'd like to help you and perhaps make the way easier for you by telling you a little story about a king and a woodcutter that can help you make the most happy time of your life - every tomorrow. The story goes like this: One afte oon, the king went for a walk in the woods near his castle and he came upon a man who was working feverishly sawing down a tree. "What are you doing?" the king asked the man.r

Creativity - What Is It?

We, as humans, share 98% of our genetic makeup with chimpanzees. So, what is the difference between those small apes and us? As you probably know, the chimpanzee is intelligent, social and has a wide range of sounds and gestures for communication and is probably one of the most expressive of all animals. The difference between the chimpanzee and the human is this: I believe we are different because God the creator of all, created us as humans. At the same time, God created each one of us in his image. Therefore, we have God's creativity built into our genes at birth.

Money Problems

When my wife and were married, we each owned a house. We decided to sell both houses and start fresh with a new house that would be “our new house together.” One of the results of selling those houses was that, even after buying a big new home for our now much larger blended family (9 children), we had a nice fat bank account – for a short time.

Tewnty Twenty Vision

When I get up in the morning, I put my glasses on and find myself wearing them for the rest of my waking hours. I'm used to them I guess, but it sure would be nice if I didn't need them to correct my vision. Fact is, I have no choice. If I want to see what's going on around me I have to wear my glasses. At one time I had 20/20 vision and like everyone else I took it for granted and really thought nothing about it at all. Now that I am older and I need to wear glasses to correct my aging eyes, I realize more than ever what a blessing it was to have 20/20 vision back then when I was young.r

Double Trouble In New Jersey!

This is the story about how a small, practically unknown town in the pine barrens of New Jersey got the name: Double Trouble. They say this small cluster of houses, barns, sawmills and sheds in a crossroads village in the backwoods of the flat pine barrens (near present day Toms River) got its unusual name years ago when, after an early October rainstorm, a floodgate of the local cranberry bog broke.

What Causes Tooth Decay?

What Causes Tooth Decay? Down through thousands of years, from the Stone Age to right now, people have always had to deal with problems with their teeth. According to a recent report by researchers who were excavating a 9,000-year-old Stone Age graveyard in Pakistan, they discovered eleven teeth that had been drilled, and repaired. Let Me Tell You A Story About Mugwumps

These mugwumps are strange looking birds that I see sometimes alongside the interstate highways when I’m on a long trip in my motor home. Mugwumps look kind of like big crows except they have white rumps and long black tails that are about twice the length of their bodies. Mugwumps never fly. At least, I’ve never seen one of them in the air.

The Amazing Benefits Of Sleep

As Americans, we live in a supercharged society where energetic activity always seems to take precedence over the simple common sense awareness of our basic need to get enough sleep. In fact, our active lives can be so enticing, so interesting that we get to the point where we actually begrudge the need to slow down and simply - get enough sleep.

Always Pay Yourself First

There is an old saying:"a word to the wise is sufficient." I know you are either wise or are gaining wisdom swiftly because of your daily prayers asking God to give you His wisdom and show you your truest interest. "The wise shall inherit glory, all honor and good." (Prov. 3:35 and Isa. 32:6).

Being Alive At Any Age

Being alive at any age has a lot to do with your attitude. What I'm talking about is an attitude toward life and the people around you that is caring. Let me give you an example of what I mean: Back in the days when the knights of old were spurring their horses toward unknown horizons, they had an attitude, that is, a sincere desire to be honest, courteous and generous with farmers as well as kings as they roamed the countryside in search of adventure. In short, their attitude became recognized as what we now call: chivalrous.

Life Is Always A Choice, As All Things Are

Each morning when you get out of bed and face the new day you immediately have an important choice to make: What will be your attitude during this day – the current day of your life? Will you face this day optimistically (in a positive way) or pessimistically (negatively)? In short, be sure to pause long enough to look around you and then do your best to consciously decide to choose an attitude that is positive. Regardless of what happened to you yesterday or last week …your choice about your attitude for this day, that is, for this one day, is purely and simply all yours.

Adequate Sleep Creates Increased Energy

Have you ever stopped to think about the many benefits of adequate sleep? Because of our different life styles most of us look at sleep in one of two ways: (1) a waste of time or (2) we have the feeling we never get enough sleep. (1) If you are the kind of person whose life style makes you feel sleep is a waste ofrntime, then you fit in with a large group of other Americans who feel the same way. Activity, production, and being busy all the time seems to be your way of life. If you are not actively engaged in thinking, doing productive tasks or going somewhere,r

Change Is Constant

Did you know you are carrying change with you every day of your life? Reach into your pocket and you will probably find a handful of coins. It is what we call: change. Just as "change in the form of coins" in your pocket - is always with you - so are other kinds of change. In fact, change is very common and it is something that is always with us as a part of our lives in one form or another. As you probably know, the speed of change is always accelerating. Nothing is final. The world changes fast. Think about this:

Another Look At Twin Tower Lights As We Remember 9/11 in May 2011: Freedom Is Not Free!

How Long Did The Pearl Harbor Battle Last?

By Terry Weberr Article Word Count: 1841 I'll always remember the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7th, 1941. Even now, seventy-two years later, I am still aware of the many ways that attack forced the "sleeping giant" that was the USA; to become today's major advocate of worldwide peace.

When I Sat Down...

WHEN I SAT DOWN... to write this note, I tried to think of a special way to say: "Happy New Year" to you. But instead of writing, Irnbegan to think. Lots of things crossed my mind like: All the new friends we've made this year, and the ones we see and talk with each week. How some of us have untangled some pretty knotty problems. The bright new plans wernhave for the New Year and the ways we intend to do a better job. But, when I picked up my pen, I just couldn't get all these thoughts on paper, and the harder I tried, the worse I did. So, I leaned back,r
