Angela Minelli is a Weight Loss and Wellness Strategist, Functional Digestive Health Expert, author, speaker and founder of Angela Minelli International, a heart-based global business serving purpose-driven women entrepreneurs whose self-image and weight issues are inhibiting their confidence thereby blocking them from pursuing their life’s passion. She takes a stand for women who are living less than ideal lives, stopped by unnecessary fears that prevent them from stepping into their power and delivering their genius to the world.

Angela recognizes that physical health is at the foundation of business success and therefore provides private and group coaching programs for women that fit their complex lifestyles yet allow for powerful transformation to take place within a small segment of time. Her client’s results include not just lasting weight loss, but also increased confidence, better relationships, more career satisfaction and income, and generalized feelings of euphoria.

Summer’s almost over and soon we’ll be back to jeans, sweaters and for some of us, snow shoes. As with every change of season though comes the dreaded fear of whether your clothes from last season will fit or not. I know I’ve certainly felt this way before. It never fails to cross my mind if my jeans from last season will be too snug or if my favorite corduroy skirt will still fit, or if I’ll be reduced to buying a whole new wardrobe so I don’t have to endure the unsightly muffin top edging out over the top of my pants.

In my work as a Certified Mind-Body Nutrition Coach, the one aspect I see consistently amongst my clients is how their emotions impact their eating, and yet most times they are completely oblivious to it until I point it out to them. When people approach me about working together, they almost always cite their lack of exercise and overeating as the reasons why they're overweight, and it never ceases to amaze me how naïve they are about why they're doing what they're doing, or not doing.

A recent post on Facebook got me thinking. A “friend” who sells a popular MLM product that promotes weight loss listed “appetite suppressant” as one of the benefits of using the product, which prompted me to ask, “Why would you want to suppress your appetite?” Interestingly, she never answered me back.

Milk. It does a body a good. Doesn’t it? For the past 6 months, I’ve been dairy free – for the most part. Sometimes it sneaks its way in unbeknownst to me. As diligent as I am about reading food labels, there are occasions when I miss an ingredient and before I know it, I’m eating it again.

I was out to lunch last week with a friend who was complaining that she gained 4 pounds because she stopped counting calories and therefore fell off the proverbial wagon. She’d been logging her food religiously, right up til Christmas, and then, as she put it, “All hell broke loose.”

Do you ever feel trapped, in a relationship, in a job, or even in the confines of your own mind? Setting boundaries is a big topic, one that deserves a lot of attention, and means a lot to me personally, because I used to never do it. But now, I consider it my #1 strategy to remaining calm and maintaining focus so that I don’t take on anyone else’s issues that aren’t mine to take on.

Have you ever noticed how easy it is for pets to lose weight? I have, and I’ve always been envious of it. A few years ago, my cat, Molly, who has since passed on, had a few extra pounds on her. She was a petite-sized cat and a few extra pounds on her was like 50 on me, but it always struck me how it never even bothered her. An extra 50 pounds on me would bother me, no doubt, but her 3 extra pounds – the equivalent of my 50 – were never top of mind for her. She ate and ate and ate, basked in the sun, and chased cat toys around the family room to her kitty heart’s delight.

For a long while, I’ve been on a quest to prove what my mentor, Marc David, taught me about pleasure. He swears by Vitamin P (p for pleasure) and claims that without it, it’s virtually impossible to lose weight. As a culture, we are programmed to believe that the more punishing our lifestyle, as with exercise or depriving ourselves of foods we love, the more rewarding in terms of weight loss, yet the concept of pleasure completely turns this belief upside down. Even though at first I was skeptical, I have to say that the more I study it, and apply it, the more I agree.

Who’s really at the table when you’re eating? Is it the adolescent you? The teenage you? The rebel? I find that one of the most overlooked aspects of eating is knowing who is in charge at meal time, yet undeniably there’s more than one identity involved and determining who they are and what drives them can help dissect your eating behaviors.

In my last blog post, Sleep Time is Realignment -of- Energies Time, I talked about one of my most effective strategies I use to keep my energy aligned so that I am able to stay consistent with what I want to attract to me. Another strategy I use that I again borrow from Abraham-Hicks is the Upstream Downstream process.

People really want their sleep ... Who could blame them? When I’ve experienced bouts of sleeplessness, it hasn’t been pretty. I’m a bear. Plus, it makes me manic and those around me aren’t all that happy about it either. Sleep is so fundamental to health. It effects brain function, cognitive ability, even your weight.

I got the impression growing up that the only way someone would love me was when I was perfect, and that included my body. So to gain weight was really scary to me. I literally felt like no one would want me, especially men, unless I was supermodel thin, so every time I gained weight, I panicked.
