“Let Your Life Speak.” I ran across this Quaker saying recently in Robert K. Cooper’s The Other 90%, and it perfectly captured who I am and what I do. I let my life speak.
I’m an author, a coach, a speaker. I have written over a dozen books, nearly one hundred ebooks, thousands of articles, and twice that number of everything for clients as a freelance writer. As a student of life and psychology I am also a synthesizer: I learn and then I teach.
This is the life I’m called to, and I let it speak.

Making Life Changes that Work
When I talk about making life changes, I like to specify that I’m talking about real change—permanent, lasting change, not a quick fix or something you do for a while and then revert to the old ways. The fact is, making serious change in your life can be a lot like going on a diet—you do it for a while, then you stop doing what worked, and you go back to the status quo. I know that it doesn’t have to be that way, because I’ve changed my own life drastically.

Deciding How I Live
One of my favorite Point of Grace songs (and my absolute favorite until recently), "How You Live," makes the case that what matters is not what you do or who you know, but how you live. Now, I absolutely believe that. In fact, I've recently given up my freelance writing career to write and teach others how to become the person they want to be, the person they were put here to be. Still, I sometimes find myself thinking, or even saying, "It's just not that easy." And it's not.

Do You Need a Personal Development Plan?
The questio "Do I need a personal development plan?" is a hard one to answer, because it's not as simple a question as it seems. When someone asks me this, what they usually mean is, "Do I need to sit down and plan out everything I'm going to do to create a new life?" The answer to that question is no. In fact, you cannot create this kind of personal development plan, because you don't and cannot know everything you need to do to create the life you want. But I believe anyone who wants to become the person they want to be, does need a personal development plan.

It's not getting stuck that stops us from reaching our goals and living the dream. It's staying stuck.
Stuck is a natural human thing. We all get stuck. Once we learn to get past the stuck place and keep moving, nothing can stop us from achieving our greatest dreams.
