Master Certified Coach, founder of iPEC Coaching, Ph.D., licensed psychotherapist

Bruce D Schneider is the founder of the world renowned Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC), and the author of the bestseller Energy Leadership: Transforming Your Workplace and Your Life from the Core, and Relax, You're Already Perfect. He is the innovator of a groundbreaking theory of consciousness levels, the much-talked-about Energy Leadership Index assessment, and the creator of the transformational Core Energy Coaching(TM) Process.

Bruce is often referred to as a modern day philosopher whose seemingly endless insights are thought-provoking and transformational. A powerful, entertaining, and charismatic speaker, his seminars, keynotes, workshops, and coaching sessions have helped countless others transform their lives.

Bruce is a Master Certified Coach, Licensed Psychotherapist, and a pioneer and innovator in the fields of professional coaching and human potential. These are just a few of Bruce D Schneider's accomplishments... and this is how he got here. Bruce's life was virtually over at age 18. In 1978, a late-evening highway encounter with a drunk driver left him on his deathbed. Miraculously, he not only survived this horrific accident, but against all odds, went on to a complete recovery. Why?

This is the question that has motivated him for more than 25 years through the study of psychology, coaching, hypnotherapy, metaphysical research, quantum physics, spiritual teachings, and decades of deep meditation. Through this journey, Bruce found his answers, and his purpose: "My role and gift in life is not to teach, preach, or convince anyone of anything. I am here to empower others to get their own answers, access their true dreams, and overcome anything that gets in the way of making those dreams a reality."

I love interacting with positive people. The energy they emit is like fuel for the inspirational fire to those around them. Years ago, in an early post-college job, I overheard an older co-worker ask another much younger associate why he was always in a good mood. Even today, the answer still sticks with me. When the question was posed, the younger guy responded, “I have a job to do. I can be miserable and do it or I can be happy and do it. Either way, I still have to do it. So, I choose to be happy.” That was it. Simple, direct, and powerful.

There are a lot of things in life that are truly complicated and challenging to solve – a long-term solution for peace in the Middle East, calculus, mapping the human genome, or deciphering if my wife is really ‘fine’ or if I’m actually in trouble. On the other hand, there are things that seem more difficult than they are – breaking bad habits, living healthier, being happy, the proper usage of “there” “their” and “they’re.”

As the son of an artist, I’ve always marveled at those who possess artistic skills. The ability to take an idea, a block of marble, or a brush and canvas, and convert it into a work of art, truly amazes me. I appreciate all forms of art, whether it be centuries old or still-drying paint, for that matter. That being said, I’m not sure I really “get” all of the displays in the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art – for example. While I don’t necessarily grasp the message of the 12 x 12 canvas painted in white, I can still appreciate the motivation of the artist. She had a vision.

The mere mention of the word “negotiation” creates a rather visceral response in people. For some, it’s excitement around competing for, and striking, the best deal. Others (likely the majority), cringe at the thought of the back-and-forth, trying to guess what will, and will not, work. “Negotiating,” in either of the above scenarios, is basically a zero sum game with two or more sides vying to grab as much of the pie as they can get. Sometimes, they’re vying for the lion’s share of the pie whether or not they even need it!

I have two young children who bring me inexpressible joy. Like any parent, I could give a long, itemized list of all the “how’s” and “why’s” they make my heart soar. One trait I notice, when observing them and their friends, is their sheer power of imagination. I’m fascinated at how my son rides his rocking horse and really believes he is galloping atop of Secretariat. And, when my daughter plays “school,” I’d swear the other kids in the class were really there as she teaches the day’s lesson.

‘Why’ – one simple word that contains a powerful question within it. There’s been a lot of focus on the power of “why,” in terms of understanding one’s motivation and what truly drives individuals to go after whatever it is they’re seeking. I’d like to take a different look at ‘why’ in terms of understanding, well…anything! To do this, let’s be clear about what we want from ‘why.’ (Say that 10x fast!)

Although the 'Ides of March' have passed, it's never too late to find meaning in it. For those who may need a refresher, March 15th is the Ides of March – the day Julius Caesar was warned about by a soothsayer. It would be the day he was killed. I will freely admit that being forced to read Shakespeare in high school wasn't exactly something I thoroughly relished, but I do recall that The Bard's Julius Caesar was one that I didn't mind. (Hey, I was a kid; my tastes are more refined, now!)

Here’s a little brain teaser for you. Why are all the following equations correct? 1 = 1 24 = 1 1,440 = 1 86,400 = 1 Did you get it right away? Need a clue? OK, here’s a hint…take it one day at a time. Got it now? No? Well, as much as I would enjoy making you rack your brain to try to figure this one out, my space here is limited, so I’ll just tell you. They’re all elements of one day. One day consists of 24 hours, 1,440 minutes, 86,400 seconds. That’s all we get each day. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you do, the numbers are the same for all of us.

With coaching having become such a fast growing field over the past decade, there's a lot of information out there about coach training and certification, and it can be a bit confusing. Let's see if we can sort out a few things. Certification - A certification program is one that requires you to complete a program that has an established set of core competencies; that evaluates you on your proficiency within these competencies; that has been audited by an accrediting agency; and that requires the institute delivering the program to be approved as an accrediting agency.

Many people don't believe in the adage, "Do what you love and the money will follow," and, consequently, they spend years in unfulfilling jobs. They know, deep inside, that there is more to life (and to work) than what they’re currently doing, but they don’t believe that they can actually make a living doing something they REALLY love to do.

If you haven't already asked yourself this question, it's important that you do so before you consider becoming a professional coach. There are many misconceptions out there, and understanding what coaching is not can be just as important as knowing what coaching actually is.
