Catherine Chadwick has been a practising Hypnotherapist since 2000 helping people who may have had difficulty changing unhelpful attitudes and behaviours any other way. She trained at the highly-regarded London College of Clinical Hypnosis gaining a Practitioner Diploma in Clinical Hypnosis. She is also a practitioner of Integral Eye Movement Therapy, a protocol that allows clients to dissociate from disturbing memories, address identity issues and reduce the intesity of negative emotions. Prior to this, she practised a range of complementary therapies working both in private practice and in psychiatric units. Catherine also worked as the Relaxation and Visualization Practitioner in a cancer support centre working with clients using the tool of imagery to explore their issues more fully and engage inner resources to find resolution or a way forward. She also teaches relaxation skills and co-led Levels 1 and 2 of The Healing Journey, a Canadian programme aimed at providing participants with stress management and self-care skills, and to find greater peace and meaning. Does Relaxation Matter?
Recently a young woman came to see me complaining of anxiety accompanied by a tight feeling in the throat. She had been promoted the year before and from what she told me, was doing the job well and receiving praise from her superiors. Despite this, and despite the fact that she herself thought she was doing a good job, the feelings persisted. It transpired that she was working extremely long hours which meant she did not get enough sleep during the week, and worked at home at weekends.
