The culture treats people as commodities I see it everywhere - people working in jobs which carry little meaning and provide little support for personal development. Worst, the culture treats people as commodities. Performance review systems, manager-employee meetings, and even rewards are set only on recent performance. What causes management problems at work? Anything but a system Many management systems are anything but a system. These organizations are a collection of people, habits, different behaviors and expectations. Management is driven largely by exte al behavior (The bigger boss) and motivation (One's own). They work only in order to get a paycheck. Stop feeling sorry for yourself Society norms make it easy to feel sorry for yourself. Sadness, depression, panic are all emotions which are easy to absorb during difficult times. When there are bills to pay and food to buy, nothing else seems to matter.
