With a new year starting and a new day, we have the chance to dream again. Some of us do a lot of planning at the end of the year gaining a vision and putting into place action steps to ensure a productive and fruitful year. There are hours spent, sometimes through weekend getaways, mastermind group meetings, brainstorming meetings or other like events to strategize and plan for our business or personal lives. We leave with a feeling of hope, confidence and excitement about what the future months ahead can bring.

Commitment, dedication, focus, intention and persistence are all key attributes we must have when we want to achieve our goals and live our dream. But the true key that unlocks the big doors is hope. We must consistently apply hope in order to dream it and live it.

We are all responsible for our own lives and how it turns out. There comes a time where we must stop blaming situations, circumstances or others. At the point when we decide take total ownership, then the time to dream should soon follow. When I speak of dream time, I am not talking about taking time to daydream some outlandish fantasy which has no possibility of ever becoming true. I am speaking of having the ability to get the life you want by dream time.

It is possible. It can happen to you. You can dream it then live it. But there is no magic formula. There is no fast track to realizing your dream. There is committed, heart-felt work involved. It takes setting and achieving goals and it takes having a strategy. Why are goals important? The goal is what makes the dream become a reality. Goals give direction. Goals are measurable. The goal is the end toward which effort is directed. It is where your time, energy, finances, gifts, talents and skills are used.

The Holidays are quickly approaching and so is the end of the year. This is the time, no matter how many times we say we won’t, we either overspend, find ourselves stressed with too many activities and not really relaxing and enjoying time with the people we truly love. We find ourselves at office parties, networking parties, family gatherings, Holiday shopping, buying and wrapping gifts. Then before we know it, the New Year is here and if we have been fortunate to take some time off…then back to work we go.

If you can dream it, you can live it. When my husband hears a statement like that his response is usually, “Yeah, but how?” That, I deem, is a legitimate question which I will attempt to answer in this blog.

One thing we know for sure, increasing confidence is always good. A sure way of building confidence is by achieving goals. There is nothing like seeing the vision in your heart realized. When you achieve your goals, confidence follows. There is a great work done internally when a person looks at what they want to achieve in life. Whether the goal is set for 30, 60, 90 days or whether it is a goal set for 1, 3 ,5 or 10 years, setting an aim and doing the work to make it happen is a good feeling.

There is a way to live the dream we carry in our hearts. The way we achieve our goal is through proper goal setting. These goals may be personal goals, professional goals or both. You are far above the crowd if you 1. Made a decision to follow your passion 2. Know what you want and why you want it 3. Have set the goal realistically 4. Made a decision to take daily action

One of the sure ways to ensure success in life is to achieve your goals to live your dream. Measuring ones’ success comes from a personal perspective. Some people measure life success by their financial status. Some people measure life success by having a healthy, peaceful family. Some people measure life success by having the career they desire. No matter what success looks like to the individual, it is attainable through the process of achieving goals.

One place that will keep us stuck or not moving at all is refusing to make a decision. Sometimes, instead of making a decision, we repeat the same actions over and over again hoping to yield a different result. We are told this is insanity. My husband told me a long time ago and I still live by this principle today, “Make a decision and the pressure lifts.” When we go ahead a make a decision, we then unconsciously move our mind toward action. First the decision then the action will follow. So what can lead us to be indecisive? And can we possibly do be a better decision maker?
