Wellness for many people is a mystery. Being sick simply brings them to the doctor's office. At the Wellness Within Clinic, created in August of 2013, I check Patterns of Health, Energetic Meridian Balance, and Posture to bring wellness within. Being sick is the body's call for help. Why not give it something natural which allows the body to heal itself. I treat with Acupuncture, Herbs, Posture Exercises, Qi Qong, Tai Chi, Kinesiology, Homeopathy, Sports Massage (tui na), in Wichita, KS. I've been working in this field sinces February of 2005 to create holistic, educational, and musical works which serve to feed the inner spirit. The vision is to help discover and solve the root causes for health problems, to manage education with joy so that the process of learning becomes easier, and to create musical works that feed the spirit.

In 1976 the art of tai chi chuan taught me to walk up a hill and be as rested at the top of the hill as I was on the bottom. It opened up new vistas in life and taught me many principles of good health. This art addressed the root of health. It is my life long quest to find practical solutions to health problems. I continue to acquire and refine skills in a Holistic Health practice.

In 1977 I read my first Montessori book written by Maria Montessori's son Mario. It opened my eyes to an understanding of the component nature of learning. Breaking down the pieces in such a way that they can be discovered reflects Maria Montessori's philosphy. The child's "absorbent mind" was captured by a specific educational method. The discovery process was captivating. Education can be a discovery process. It is the joy of discovery that helps the student take home a lesson that will be remembered. I continue to teach various subjects at UCSD Extension and am now expanding into holistic topics.

My mother and father taught me to play musical instruments. I grew up around a family that loved music. Musical works have the ability to create a meditative atmosphere which ennobles the spirit. Songs can capture the universal themes that echo across all cultures and all peoples. I write music every day and am working to share some of this wonderful music in my life.

Creativity is a mysterious word. In life creativeness is not limited to human beings. Animals have been highly creative not only in survival but in having a fun time of living. Watching a group of birds play at the ocean begins to look like choreography only where is the master creator there? Plants follow the sun and create a unique space which over time can be crowded out with profuse elation for life. Some plants grow at amazing speeds like bamboo. Others take many seasons to take root.

The message to take drugs to fix our problems in our society is ingrained deeply into our brains -- we expect immediate relief from drugs. There are many products that are successful for immediate relief. But I ask, "at what cost?" The answer is seen daily with people moving about with pain. The paradigm for me is Effective Non-Drug Choices. The first choice for most people is NSAIDs or Non-Steroidal Anti-Inflammatory Drugs. It removes the fiber of blockage around the painful areas causing pain and relieves the problem. Or does it? Like any other drug it as a profile.

The five great springs in the body are a central theme to most martial artists. It is a simple theme. Each arm is a spring that forms a fulcrum by bending at the elbow. Each leg is a spring formed at the knees. And the body itself forms a spring at the waist. They help to absorb and redirect even in the process of walking or sitting. It is more complex than a simple spring because of the wonderful hinge / ball and socket of the shoulder or hip. Hands and feet integrate into the spring as well.

Inner sense of rhythm

Henry David Thoreau
comes to mind

A different beat
from a distant drummer

the drummer within
beckons each one of us
Most pretend not to hear it
Others drown it out
being busy
with life's chores --
the path we choose
each day of our lives
will bring the drums
closer
or farther away,
they always retu
they are the compelling notions
in our brain
coming to the surface
reminding us
of a mission
branded within our souls
the uniting of soul & spirit
comes with its own dna
a hidden imprint
awaiting
our choice
to stand up & walk tall
to begin a journey
far beyond any we can recall
a fresh
and exciting
perspective
the drums keep calling us
no matter how far
we run away
the drums keep calling us
no matter how far
we go astray
the drums keep calling us
