Debra J. Slover earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Education from Oregon State University in 1975. An award winning author incorporating the 27 years of experience she gained training, empowering, and serving more than 40,000 youth and adult leaders into her books.

She is the owner of Leadership Garden Enterprises, LLC and patron of the Leadership Garden Fund that provides grants to non-profit organizations to create projects that use leader-friendly gardening practices in the following categories:

  • Inclusion Projects – Be nonjudgmental
  • Safe and Healthy Community Projects – Do not enable
  • Compassion Projects – Use empathy
  • Kindness projects – Prune gossip
  • Accountability projects – Eliminate blame
  • Healing Projects – Eradicate Victimization

Her experience includes 20 years as Director of Oregon Student Safety On the Move (OSSOM), a statewide youth leadership program promoting safe and healthy communities operated out of Oregon State University, and seven years teaching in public schools.

During this time, she coordinated youth-led statewide conferences, leadership camps, and national conferences. She has been a presenter at numerous national, statewide, and local conferences and seminars, and has served as President of the National Association of Teen Institutes and Chair of the Oregon Coalition to Reduce Underage Drinking.
