Hi, I'm a New Zealander, right down the bottom of the Pacific. I'm in my 50s and somewhere along the way, running a small research business, I became the burned out executive, out of touch with his own values. 30 years earlier I'd trained to be a teacher - I was going to be the next Sid Poitier. Then in 2004 on a trip to Cambodia I was given the opportunity to volunteer teach, and since then have helped with other supporters to build a school run by local teachers and designed to teach students the languages (Japanese, English) that will give them a passport to employment in their region - which is near the fabulous Angkor Wat.
The experience has been wonderful, and truly a journey and we've learned a lot of things along the way. This story is mostly about the students, but as is the way with these things, involvement has also been of immense benefit to the volunteers and supporters also. Perhaps you are interested in such a journey.
