Ed Caldwell, founder: If those that teach are lamps unto the world, Ed Caldwell is a shining example. In the age of informatio Ed has trained tens of thousands to reach their peak performance through dynamic reading and thinking skills seminars.

Ed has a unique story. As a struggling undergraduate student, his BA took him seven years. Needing more education, Mr Caldwell enrolled in a compressed accelerated learning program one week before graduate school. Without fully grasping what he had just learned, he began applying and refining the techniques to his graduate work. They worked quite well!

Mr. Caldwell graduated Summa Cum Laude from Columbia University, becoming a product of the same learning methods he shares in his programs today. He then directed his efforts to helping others achieve outstanding results in their personal and professional lives.

At the world famous Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics Program, Mr Caldwell was Senior Consultant and Director of Training. It was during this period that he began to perfect the art and science of Dynamic Reading. He has taught legions of sales persons, technical engineers, executive managers, assembly line workers, administrative staff, as well as CEOs of Fortune 500 companies to be more efficient and effective.

There are two key differences in his approach that no others in the field can match. First, is moving from the teacher centric model of the the past to a learner centric model - ideal for web delivery! The second key difference is the focus on comprehension. There are no other commercial programs that focus on this critical piece that is vital to the learner's success.

Excited by the emergence of web-technologies, Ed is expanding his reach through his new company, ProductivElearn.com and it's Speed Reading Tactics area, an online learning site devoted to enabling personal and professional development for busy working people to master the information they are overloaded with today.

Do you remember Aesop's fable of the Tortoise and the Hare? As you read this article about speed reading you probably think I'm going to talk about the fast hare. On the contrary, I am going to sing the praises of the lowly tortoise. The lesson of the tortoise is the character trait development of consistent effort towards a goal. As you recall from the story, the tortoise astonishingly won the race. The persistence of effort is what won the day.

Today, with the internet revolution, the world is changing faster than before. Students and young professionals find themselves in a fix wondering how to keep up with the changing times. Following the traditional study system, by the time we graduate from school, much of what we learn becomes obsolete. So we need to spend time learning how to learn and unlea to keep up with the times.

Whether you have just started to look into speed reading, or whether you are a frustrated learner who has tried and not mastered the skills yet, there are 6 essential concepts you must understand if you hope to master the skills as a lifelong habit, or skill set. Notice I mentioned "frustrated learners" in the first paragraph. I have observed that many of my learners come to me as a matter of having not succeeded in learning the skills from trying some program in the past.

Remember when you were young and went to your favorite swimming hole and couldn`t wait to dive into the water and your parents, or other adult would tell you to look before you dive in? Or, have you ever ventured out on a long road trip; did you first look at a map? Or, do you remember the Aesop Fable of the Fox and the Goat?

Are you someone who often either wants to fall asleep or actually does fall asleep while you are trying read something more than a couple of paragraphs? I get this question, especially frequently from students or professionals who have a lot of in-depth reading to do. Many factors can lead to this problem. Learning to speed read in a dynamic approach can overcome this problem. Here are some useful tips: 1. Position/Posture: Because reading, whether fast or slow, is a thinking skill, we need to shape our environment to best induce an alert mind. For example,

In this 3rd part of the series “How to Read supersonically,” or reading above 600 words per minute (wpm), we’ll be exploring the use of the eyes, or the mechanics of reading. If you are to be able to read and understand at rates above 600 wpm, then learning to use your eyes more fluidly and efficiently is certainly important. Unfortunately most other programs focus exclusively on this aspect and miss comprehension, the cognitive aspect of reading.

Did you know that neuro-science (the study of how the brain works) has proven there are four essential principles that insure learning success? Without knowing these, you will probably be frustrated, confused, and possibly fail in your attempts to learn this complex set of behaviors called speed reading. The 4 essential, but little known secrets to all successful learning attempts, especially speed reading are: 1. Brain Plasticity - it has amazing regenerative capability. 2. Frequency - more often is best! 3. Intensity - fully engaged and participating in the experience.r

You want to learn to speed read and you're doing a web search on the topic. Unless this is the first thing you have read, you have probably come across much negative talk about the possibility of ever really reading super fast and achieving good comprehension with speed. (Usually that comes from people who have either not engaged in the right type of training, or didn't train in the proper manner, but that's not the point here.) Many people have tried and failed to master comprehension at super fast speeds.

When learning to speed read, the saying that a little information can be a dangerous thing still applies. Consider the term "eye-span." Even though I've been teaching people from all walks of life how to speed read for 30 years, I have only recently received many questions about it. For new learners coming into my programs, the question keeps coming up early in training. I don't even use the term in my training. The new learner has read something about it somewhere. There is too much conce for it though.

Recently someone asked me directly, "is it possible to read 2000 words per minute?" Yes, it is possible. Faster is also possible. It is possible to read even faster than that. We're not sure how fast is possible for us humans. However, considering that the average ending rates for our students is 1600-2000 wpm, and some have read at 24,000 wpm with 95% comprehension, the speed the inquirer asked about is certainly possible. From having taught tens of thousands of people in the past these skills, I'll share the 2 most important keys to success.

Can intelligence be increased? That's a radical question that has been hotly debated for well over a century. As with most "radical" questions the debate is usually centered around the lines of demarcation or differing disciplines. Historically intelligence has been measured as a factor of abstract numerical capabilities as tested by the dreaded IQ test.
