an innovative book written as a dialogue between the patient and the dietitian. Through the book chapters, the patient, diagnosed with high cholesterol and high blood pressure, is taken step by step on how to apply the principles of a Mediterranean lifestyle to reverse his health condition. The patient learns about a lyfestyle that not only revolves about the right nutrion for him but also about cooking, sharing meals and activities with his family, his friends, his co-workers, his community and about how to reduce stress. In sum, a different lyfestyle from his previous one that little by little makes him a healthier and happier person.

Making sure your cholesterol levels are normal is very important. That is because cholesterol can lead to blood clots that interfere with regular blood flow in your arteries and in the blood vessels of your brain. But if you are diabetic, keeping an eye on your cholesterol levels is even more important because as you know, high levels of glucose in the blood damage the walls of the arteries, causing cholesterol to stick to them and to form plaque. Here is a question I receive in my nutrition classes quite often: Is peanut butter healthy? Well, the answer is, “not quite”. Peanut butter is considered an inflammatory food because of its ratio between Omega 6 and Omega 3 fats. And as you probably know, chronic inflammation is the root for many health problems. There are three kinds of dietary fats in the food we eat: 1. Saturated fats. These fats are found mainly in animal foods and tropical oils. They are not considered healthy.
