"I have been on my path as a healer since I was 7 and was hit by a drunk driver on my bike. I've suffered severe chronic migraines ever since - usually 20 or more days a month in pain. Back then, no one knew anything about migraines really, and I was on my own. In college I participated in every possible training to see if it would help, and worked with a lot of programs that gave me pieces of the puzzle. I've continued learning and growing throughout my life, and I feel that all that learning has brought me to this place, where finally, being pain-free myself, I can help others achieve the same and get their lives back."

Jana offers counseling programs customized to the client as well as small group programs and sessions on CD. Her areas of expertise include migraines and chronic headaches, food allergies and celiac disease, as well as weight loss for the diet resistant. She is also an active yoga and dance teacher (www.howtobellydance.com). She is available for corporate workshops, talks and interviews. More information on her programs is available on her website: www.balancedlifetoday.com and www.balancedlifetoday.com/migraines.htm.

She has been committed to animal rights and animal/wildlife rescue all her life, and a portion of her income from her business goes to wildlife and animal charities. She lives happily in the hills north of Vancouver, WA with her husband Mike and her 4 cats, 1 squirrel and currently 2 raccoons.

It’s one of those nasty truths that migraine sufferers know all too well: when you don’t sleep well, you get migraines, and when you have migraines, it’s often really hard to sleep. So the question becomes: What can I do? I personally have always had the kind of migraines that chain for at least 2 – 3 days, often for weeks on end. Sometimes you get rid of it in the afternoon or evening and think maybe you’ve gotten clear, only to wake up in the middle of the night with one. Or even when you don’t wake all the way up, your sleep is disturbed by the pain.
