Hurting couples come to me to help them sort out problems such as affairs or violence. As a Licensed Psychologist in private practice in North St. Paul in Minnesota, I have worked with hundreds of couples (married or partnered/straight or not) helping them find the enduring relationship they want.

I have been trained in cutting-edge therapy methods that are scientifically-based and drawn from:

  • long-term research studies that have identified exactly what successful couples do differently than couples whose marriages eventually fail.

  • long-term studies that examine how emotional attachment occurs in marriage, and why an emotional bond is crucial both to the success of marriages and the well-being of individual partners.

  • new neurological studies which suggest how we can break out of old habits of interacting with others by "reconditioning" our brains for more flexibility.

I do a thorough evaluation of the relationship including meeting with the couple to get a comlete history. In addition, I meet with the partners individually to understand their specific worries and needs in the relationship. This evaluation clarifies the strengths and weaknesses of the relationship and provides of clear course of action to work on the relationship.

In our work together, couples increase their communication skills, heal from past hurts, and lay the groundwork for a commited relationship that endures.

I use a variety of methods to help couples and individuals live a more fulfilling life. I have been trained in EMDR and TFT (Thought Field Therapy) which are designed to help people recover rapidly from emotional distress. I teach and use relaxation techniques and Mindfulness Meditation. When needed, I make a personalized relaxatio CD for you to listen to in your home.

You don't have to live with the hurts of the past or with relationships that don't work. You can feel better, you can make your relationships better. Call for a free 15-minute consultation about your particular situation.

When we are courting, we not only try to show our partner our best side but we also don’t really notice the “down side” of our partner.
