Susan Green Quick Facts
I am a freelance writer and native New Yorker now living in the Southwest. I majored in sociology and while working as a legal assistant I once considered a career in the criminal justice field. My work experience in the legal field would come in handy when I was called upon to write a legal column titled “The Legal Eye" for a major internet service provider. I would also find myself representing a family member in a civil case involving the discrimination of a family member within the school system, but my love of writing would prevail and I opted for a career in the healthcare industry instead. My interest in mental health, self help issues and self realization would become the primary focus of my writing. These were topics I knew well and topics my readers were most interested in. I feel privileged to be able to make a small impact on my reader's lives while sharing some of my own experiences. I believe life's jou ey feels less bumpy when we know we are not in it alone.

Our Cheating Hearts
I am always puzzled when I hear new answers to that deep philosophical question, why do men cheat? To me this question is the equivalent to what is the meaning of life? Not surprisingly, thousands of books have been published attempting to answer this very question. There are those that say cheating in men can be prevented if women do all the right things to keep their man happy. We have new celebrity books written by; you guessed it men, to tell us what we women are doing wrong.

A Mother's Love In Perpetuity
As I first thought about writing this article, I felt pangs of guilt. I questioned my loyalty to the woman who would raise me and care for me as I grew into a young woman. As I pondered the inbo devotion that was holding me back, I realized that sharing these feelings would not only prove cathartic, but perhaps might be relatable to other daughters and perhaps sons as well. When I think of my relationship with my mother I think of pain, not physical pain, but emotional pain.

The Art of Self Love
Many of us are unhappy with ourselves to some degree, however for some the unhappiness may turn to self loathing which affects every aspect of ones' life. Self loathing limits our ability to better ourselves and our lives. It allows us to settle for less than what we deserve and it results in bad choices and bad relationships. Some of us may not even be aware that we are in self loathing mode, but if we are honest with ourselves we will be able to see that our lives are a direct reflection of what we believe we deserve.

Patient Heal Thyself
I remember my first visit to a therapist and it still makes me smile. He was a small frame of a man who weighed about the same as a 13 year old boy. He greeted me with a warm smile and made me feel at home almost instantly. Our rapport was obvious and while I was still quite apprehensive about ...

A Pill A Day
Are Americans more susceptible to depression or are they just less able to handle the frustrations that come with daily life? Certainly the antidepressant is not new, but it seems to have in many ways become a staple within a newly defined food group, a food group that includes our daily multi ...

Desperately Seeking Self
I remember a time when a single woman would not consider going to a movie or out to dinner alone. There seemed to be a stigma in appearing in a social setting without a companion and while we women have come a long way baby, as the saying goes, many of us still find it difficult to be a party of ...

Tall, Dark and Dangerous
I remember the first time I saw him. I had just turned 18 and was at my first, yes my first, boy girl party. He was tall dark and very handsome and he oozed confidence. I was shy and a bit of a wallflower, but he wandered over and asked me my name. From that day on we would be inseparable. My family approved, as he was charming and attractive and he said all of the right things. I remember my grandmother once saying how he seemed to not take his eyes off of me, a good thing I thought at the time.

I am a firm believe that self growth is a never ending process and that by looking at ourselves as we truly are, and not as others may see us, our lives then become limitless and the possibilities endless.
