Zeno Dickson

I was born the third child of four, a fifth generation Californian, descendent of California women from both sides of the family. It gave me a pioneer orientation, of being at the edge of innovation and what was happening.

I was 17 during the Summer of Love, and this period of time in San Francisco was enormously imprinting, changing my perception as to what was important, what life means, what consumerism and war have to do with each other.

At the end of the summer, I was driving in Santa Cruz (curvey and mountainous), got in a terrible wreck, and had my first wake-up shock that my fancy coat or shoes or car was insignificant in comparison to life for that person on the pavement who got to struggle to live.

This search for truth, for meaning, for enlightenment began in earnest.

Ten years later, I woke from a dream "Maybe I should go see Bhagwan (now Osho)" and was in India eight days after.

Being somewhat of a hesitant type, I didn't know if I was ready to sign my name in (metaphoric) blood, but a lecture from the Master on this subject was answered with "try it, if you don't like it, drop it again. You do not need to make a vow for a thousand years."

Of course, this was a relief. I wanted to have an initiation, since that was the only way you could have a personal darshan, and since I'd come all that way, I wanted to see if I'd feel anything. So with the assurance that I could drop out if needed, I made my appointment, sat at the feet, prayed not to get some funky name and was gratified when given the name Zeno, from Zen.

I lived for several years in the commune. Life took me to Switzerland where my daughter got a poshy, wonderful education (thank god) before a house fire reduced my belongings to almost nothing, so it was a good time to return to the US.

Beginning with a search to my old haunts took me to Northern California and to the epicenter of a 7.0 earthquake (the 1992 Petrolia quake). This was a real deterrent from settling!

So with my partner, we took a route that ended in Taos, New Mexico. We rented a house that had a year's lease, while I'm thinking "this will do for a few weeks so we can stop living in motels." Three months later that I recognized the symptom of altitude sickness!

It's very beautiful here. Big skies and big vistas. I love sunsets and space. And if this is where life has landed me, then so be it.

In the fall of 1993, I was introduced to and then fell in love with the Human Design System. The person who reported receiving it as a revelation was interested in being hosted in the US, so that's what happened. Life rewired itself so that we were promoting and introducing Human Design in America.

Since that time, Human Design has been my passion and inner urge to bring this knowledge into the world with my own brand of consciousness and what it means to awaken.

By now, the diversity of styles of Human Design reflect and express the people who offer it. What is consistent among all practitioners is a profound love, fascination and recognition that Human Design is very important. It will change the fields of psychology, parenting, coaching and teaching.
