We all realize what the next generation has in hands. They are going to face much bigger struggles than we had to overcome. Therefore, to have the right people working as teachers and assistant principals is crucial for the future of this world. These people form the society and the world. The popularity of these jobs has grown significantly, what is a good sign. It seems that we care about our future. Many people apply for these jobs and schools can choose better assistant principals and better teachers. Some of you may not agree with me, but I believe that assistant principal is even more important than the school director. Why it is so? rnThe director is more a figure, a representative of an institution. That is the guy who gives diplomas at the end of the year, talks to media and greats students on the corridors. rnHowever, assistant principal is more in touch with students, can influence them, can guide them and typically the distance he has is not as big as it is between principal himself and students. The selection process for this position reflects the importance it has. In many countries, only a person with at least twelve years of teaching experience can become an assistant principal. This person is typically chosen from the staff at school and can hold this function for entire decade. But sometimes there is a regular job interview, because it is just better to see also applicants from outside of school. rnTo be honest, we might have a tendency to choose our friends if we recruit only internally. This is the case especially at schools, where relationships between people are tight and good. The interview process is quite typical. Job candidates are tested using a set of assistant principal interview questions. They need to demonstrate their expertise, show if they know what it takes to have this job and what added value they can deliver to the company. To read a job description or speak to someone who had this role before can help a lot in an interview. Experience is priceless. It may seem nice to lead the children, teachers and assist the principal. But it is not a piece of cake, believe me. It is very difficult, especially if you care about your job. Therefor, you need to present some enthusiasm in your interview. At the end of the day, we all want to reach the top floor. Nobody wants to teach forever. To have a job of principal should be your ultimate goal. And you can achieve it! All you have to do is to start on a right path. To start as an assistant principal is an ideal first step. But you should not consider it just as some mid-session of your career. Actually you can achieve the biggest satisfaction and the most important results on this position. I had this position before. There are many positives about it. On the other hand, it brings a lot of stress with it. You are the one responsible for students, the good things they do and problems they create. If you can prepare well for your interview, show motivation and enthusiasm for this role, if you can be humble enough, you can be chosen.
