We have to face that there are certain days of the year that make driving an altogether more dangerous job. There are a few days of the year that if you could avoid driving you can increase your safety odds. Several research studies have been conducted to find which are most dangerous driving days of the year. Some of these days have been identified in the next paragraphs. Martin Luther King Jr. Day is one day when people tend to indulge in alcohol a little more than they should. More alcohol automatically increases the tendency to meet with an accident scene. Holidays like this would be one good day to avoid driving, if at all possible, and perhaps look for alternative transportation like a public bus or subway. The same goes with Mardi Gras and Christmas Eve. While Christmas day itself is pretty calm, it is the day before when the last minute shopping rush is on high and chances for an accident are also very likely. Halloween wasn’t really considered a dangerous day to drive in the past, but as more people wonder the streets for trick or treating, the chances of being lax with road etiquette can lead to accidents. There are several people who tend to jaywalk, which can be a major cause of accidents. Thanksgiving Day is when the wines flow continuously and the partying goes on through the evening. Many accidents have been caused by people undertaking long trips back to their homes and falling asleep at the wheel. This is one day that you should take out to rest and enjoy especially if you plan to indulge a great deal. Perhaps the joys of not working on Labor Day can lead you to go on vacation where you will have to drive home tired and be once again exposed to an accident on the road. A number of accidents have occurred on this holiday weekend. The same goes with Memorial Day weekends. The 4th of July is when the celebration takes a long time to die down and that is when accidents have occurred as well. And of course you have New Year’s Eve. In all cases, people tend to let down their guard for just a few minutes and this alone can result in some horrifying accidents. Being careful during the most dangerous driving days of the year is not something that should not be restricted to holidays alone, but to at all times that you are driving. Driving with precaution is something that you should do even on a regular working day.
