The reason why researchers have not discovered the connection between rebirth and karma are: - They have not found a spiritual teacher who can give them the enlightened vision which brings closure and validation to their research. - They too are trapped in this cycle of karma and reincarnation. If they would have found the connection would they not be free by now? Evidence that reincarnation and karma are connected Let us understand with an example. A person is walking on a busy street, and many others are walking on that same street. Suddenly a snake comes and bites only one person in particular. Why? There were so many others walking by too, but why was this particular person only bitten by the snake? Because the person had a karmic account from his previous life that he was paying off by suffering the snake-bite. The connection of every birth begins with the previous life. The seed of karmas are sown in the past life, and their fruits come in this life. So, today, we are experiencing the karma of our previous life. And the karma of this life, we will experience in our next life. It is because of development that one can understand these karmic accounts. That is when one begins to believe in reincarnation. Cause for the perpetual cycles of rebirth Has this ever happened that although you may not wish to do something at all, yet you end up doing it? You may not wish to get angry at all, yet you see yourself getting angry. Why is that? What is the reason for it? It is because today the karma has materialised — it has come into effect. Karmas are the causes. For instance when someone says, ‘you are despicable’, retaliation arises within us immediately. As a result, karmic atoms are charged. Karma gets bound, the result of which will come in the next life. The various charged karmic atoms of anger-pride-deceit-greed that are bound in this life are the causes that take shape in the next life, give its effect and settle the old karmic account. It is the stock of causes that we brought forth from our previous life that is unfolding today. And while they unfold, simultaneously new causes get created there and then, creating our future life. How are new karmas (causes) created? It is because of: - Firstly, ignorance of our real self, which is the pure Soul. Until we continue with the belief of ‘I am this name, I am this body’, we will go on charging karma (new causes), and thus will remain in the perpetual cycle of birth and death. - Secondly, owing to ignorance of the Self, the wrong belief of ‘I am doing the cause karma.’ From the above, one begins to understand that after death there is birth and after birth there is death. This cycle of life and death goes on continuously because of cause and effect, effect and cause. If we have created causes throughout our life; these causes cannot be held back from giving the results of their effects in the next life. How does charging of new karma stop? Only when new causes are not created, can this perpetual cycle of cause and effect, effect and cause end one day; until then, there is bound to be birth after death. Only through Self-Realization can the charging of new karma stop. And only through a Living Gnani can Self-Realization happen. So, let’s leave aside what researchers have found or not found, it will not help end our cycle of suffering the results of karma life after life. But by attaining Self-Realization, we realize our real Self. We understand that, ‘I am a Pure Soul’, which is an eternal element, and most important, an abode of eternal bliss. Isn’t that magnificent? So come, let’s go to Gnani and get our work done! To read more, visit: https://dbf.adalaj.org/i0EXQl8e
