How to buy Filet Mignon?

If you are purchasing it for the first time, you can consider buying it pre-cut, not to cut it yourself. However, it is much more expensive than the whole beef tenderloin.

The Steps to Grill

  1. Prepare the meat

Filet Mignon is not a cut out from a bone, nor does it contain much fat. That is why people prefer to season it or marinate it with the rich natural flavor. The longer you cook it, the richer will be the flavor. Filet Mignon cooking is all about giving it time.

Seasoning helps to enrich the flavor because when you heat the steak, the flavor escapes when it reaches the right temperature.

If you want your Filet to be medium-flavored, add a little salt and pepper as it already retains plenty of natural flavors. Before cooking, keep the meat out of the fridge for about 20 minutes to maintain its room temperature.

  1. Preparing the grill

Once you have seasoned the filet mignon with kosher salt and fresh craft pepper, it's time to put the steaks on the grill.

For grilling filet mignon, you will need to preheat the grill for two zone cooking. If you are using a charcoal grill, you will have to move your briquettes to one side of the grill. But if you're cooking on a gas grill, turn half the burners on. The overall temperature of your grill should be around 350° F.

Now begin with placing your meat on the indirect heat side of the grill. First, cook it within 10 degrees of your final target temperature. It will take approximately 35 to 40 minutes.

Then take the steaks from indirect heat and place them in the direct heat. Sear the steaks for a few minutes until it reaches its target temperature.

It is a grilled steak tip to use a meat thermometer so that you can pull the stick off the grill when it is ready to your preferred temperature. Grilling Filet Mignon does not take many efforts; it just needs the right temperature.
