WALLS

We all from time to time have conversations and talk about the fact that we have "walls" put up. These walls seem to be in place as protection from hurt and pain.
I've spent a long time observing and talking to people who say they have walls. I have one question, why have walls. Most will say that it keeps their heart from breaking one more time, or that because they have learned not to trust in the past it protects them from someone that might hurt them.
I have another way of looking at walls. First, what are walls designed to do. Yes, the keep things out, but they also keep things from coming in. You might say that's saying the same thing, but it isn't really.
This world is made of checks and balances. One of the great Universal Laws is the Law of Reciprocity. It simply states that whatever you do will be returned back to you. Like the great Golden Rule, Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This Law is in place always.
So remember, when you're building those walls to keep things out, it also keeps things from coming in. If you build a wall around yourself to protect yourself from getting hurt you are in fact hurting yourself.
You see, your "wall" might keep someone out, it might keep someone at bay, it might keep your heart from breaking because of loss but what is actually happening is you are not able to get out of the wall yourself. You are not able to grow and shine as you are supposed to. You cannot give simply because you cannot get back.
So when you are building these walls, no matter how grand and strong you may think your wall is, think about what else might happen. Think about what you could be missing out on. Pain and pleasure go hand in hand. They are both emotions on the same plain only in opposite directions. They are both energy. Building walls only allows the energy to move in one direction...choose which direction you would like to see it go.
