If you find yourself constantly worrying about past events or possible future outcomes, it indicates that you have not yet achieved enlightenment. https://dbf.adalaj.org/pB8I1Au3 One who is enlightened lives in the present moment, without any attachment to the past nor any concern for the future. The enlightened lives consciously, mindful of their thoughts, words and actions, and aware of the environment that surrounds them. Let’s understand this science in a little more detail… All too often, we are so engrossed in thoughts related to the past or future, that it does not allow us to fully appreciate the present moment. We get attached to the positive thoughts and dislike the negative ones, and this prevents us from completely valuing the present. For instance, we look forward to a long holiday for months, but when we finally get there, we are caught up in thoughts of work-place or other concerns, which takes away our peace of mind and causes inner turmoil. When we become entwined with these memories, they hinder us from living in the moment. The law of Nature says that the more we like or dislike something, the more consumed we are by the memory of it. Our mind keeps revisiting that place or person and this causes us to live in the past and wanting to change the future related to it. However, the past or the future cannot be changed, and hence, there is nothing to gain but pain by dwelling on them. Moreover, when we worry about anything, it actually ruins the outcome. The past has already happened, and the future is not within our control. So, why not focus on the present moment then and enjoy all that is in front of us? Yes, Living in the present helps us avoid the negative effects such as stress, worry, uncertainty, and apprehension caused when worrying about things that happened in the past or might happen in the future. Hence, we should aim to focus on the here and now. So, how do we live in the present? In order to truly experience the present moment, it is vital to achieve Self-realisation, which is also known as enlightenment. When one has attained Self-Realization, one has the conviction of one's true identity that, 'who Am I'. One realizes that, ‘I am not the body and mind, rather I am a pure Soul that is inherently blissful and present.’ When living in a state of awareness of the Soul from one moment to the next, one is naturally free from attachment to the past and is not worrying about the future. Even when faced with memories or future events that may invoke sadness, worries and tension, maintaining an awareness of the Self enables one to remain present in the moment; so memories of the past do arise in mind, but one just ‘knows’ and ‘sees’ those memories without any attachment or abhorrence towards them. To know and see without any attachment or abhorrence is the only function of the Soul. The pure Soul, which is the real Self, never experiences any emotion (that goes up or down with time), it only experiences the everlasting bliss, no matter what the circumstance. It is because the Soul is just the ‘Knower and Seer’ of whatever is happening in the present moment. Therefore, when you are enlightened i.e. when your Soul is awakened, the mind may or may not worry about things that happened in the past or might happen in future, but you, as a pure Soul (which is your real identity), never worry nor get frightened; you are always knowing and seeing whatever your mind and body is experiencing moment to moment. This becomes possible only after having attained Self-Realization. And in today’s world, the shortest and the easiest way to attain Self-Realization is... https://www.dadabhagwan.org/
