Materialistic possessions are something that most of us dream for, as they provide us comfort and happiness. We think they give us a better lifestyle and therefore we crave for such luxuries. And if we happen to meet people with luxuries, one often tends to look at them with great admiration. However, if we were to look at the bigger picture, although rich people in the world are seen to be embracing all kinds of luxuries and wealth on the outside, the flip side is that they are not enjoying any mental peace within. Their minds are all the time consumed with many kinds of worries and thoughts regarding their wealth. The very nature of these possessions is such that they never let you be at peace with yourself. Moreover, whenever some new luxury item is acquired, we are filled with excitement and joy, but as it gets older, we get bored. If that luxury actually gave me happiness then it shouldn’t have made me bored after a few days, isn’t it?! rnNumerous circumstances are worked upon to acquire these possessions; yet the happiness derived out of it is not everlasting. They do give some happiness but the amount of unhappiness it generates is many times more. And the ultimate truth is that these possessions too are after all temporary objects. When any of the luxury we’ve been used to, happens to part, we find ourselves in a miserable state. We strive hard to acquire some other luxury that can make us happy again. Thus, on contemplating these situations, we realize that it is only a wrong belief that people with lavish luxuries are very lucky and happy. It’s like the grass always looks greener on the other side! But the fact is that the outer luxuries generally are in an inverse relationship with our inner peace. Materialistic things do provide comfort in our life but if we choose to aimlessly run behind these transient luxuries and become dependent on them, it definitely jeopardizes our inner peace of mind. IS INNER PEACE ABOVE EVERYTHING? Inner peace means there is happiness and tranquil that prevails within even in the worst of the conditions, making one devoid of any dissatisfaction, greed, hate or unhappiness. It is like our own secret possession. We don’t have to run behind it as it is our innate nature. A person who is peaceful from within does not get affected by any external luxuries in life because he has got his own Real possession. Thus, we can conclude that inner peace is above luxuries! Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan highlights that there is enormous peace (eternal bliss) in our own real Self. The Pure Soul is our real Self; it exists within each one of us, within every living being. A person who lives in his real Self’s peace will acquire all the necessary comforts in the external world, as a byproduct. But for this, we require to attain the knowledge of the real Self (Self-Realization). And this knowledge is easily attainable within just two hours, for no added cost, through direct grace of Gnani, the Enlightened One. Today, when Pujya Deepakbhai Desai bestows upon us this knowledge and makes us realize our real Self, a sense of inner tranquil prevails within forever, permanently!
