But are you happy all the time? Let us consider a scenario: you receive distressing news about your family member or face financial crises – does your happiness persist? What about times when you are unwell or experience various aches and pains? Can you maintain your happiness during such moments? Furthermore, how do you feel when you are insulted or treated poorly by others? Spirituality grants us everlasting happiness, in stark contrast to the fleeting and dependent happiness we derive from material pursuits. The joy found in spirituality is enduring, while the happiness we gain from material aspects relies on various external factors like people, favourable circumstances, financial resources, and our health, making it transient in nature. Let us explore the definition of happiness in spirituality. In spirituality, happiness begins with the recognition of the Soul, the life energy within each one of us. In our present times, it has become all too common to witness people grappling with various challenges: pain, unhappiness, stress, tension, depression, frustration, fatigue, worries, losses, failures, ill health, hurt, misery, sadness, sorrow, mental ailments, loneliness, hatred, and anger. The root cause of this suffering lies in our ignorance of the true Self - the biggest underlying problem. “Our happiness should be [an] innate part of us. Innate (natural) happiness arises from the religion of the Self (sva-dharma). In the Self religion, one has to know the nature of the Soul” – Dada Bhagwan, a spiritual master, of the modern times. The Self, also known as the pure Soul, is eternal, possessing infinite knowledge, vision, energy, and bliss. Despite this inherent greatness, we often find ourselves feeling helpless, experiencing suffering, pain, and insecurity. Why does this occur? The answer lies in our lack of 'awareness' of the Self – of our own energy and the power it holds. Spirituality plays a crucial role in awakening this awareness. By recognising the true essence of the Soul through spirituality, we attain the knowledge and understanding that liberates us from these troubles. It enables us to live a peaceful, harmonious, and blissful life, free from the clutches of such problems. Helping us to find solutions amidst of worst crisis. Therefore, embracing spirituality is vital in our modern lifestyle, as it empowers us with self-awareness, deepens our connection to the Soul, and guides us towards a life of tranquillity, fulfilment, and ever-lasting happiness. It helps us break free from the confines of ignorance, paving the way for a purposeful existence filled with inner awareness and contentment. Thus, spirituality holds profound importance in navigating the challenges of our contemporary world, providing us with the keys to unlock the door to genuine and lasting well-being. In the end, through Self-realisation, we attain true knowledge, becoming aware of our true identity - 'who am I.' This is the fundamental significance of spirituality. The awareness of the eternal Self brings profound bliss, rendering one impervious to the influences of the external world. Living with pure and applied awareness of the Self shields us from the disturbances of life in any situation.
