Begin the Year (or Month) with A Cleanse!

I do a modified fast for 3 days every month. I’ve been doing this consistently for five or six years now. So that means that for about a month out of the year, I let my digestive system rest and cleanse my body. I try to use the time to also exercise my will – you know, it’s the time I tell my body who is boss! My appetite, feelings and desires have to take a back seat and do what I tell them to! I like the feeling of being in control of my body – NOT the other way around. This is THE best way to develop self-control and discipline.

“Inside the body lives a vast number of bacteria without which we could not remain in good health. Health and Nutrition: 3 Reasons for Digestive Disorders Doctors May Discount

Several years ago a friend’s teenage son developed Crohns disease. He had to have surgery and it took quite some time for his symptoms to calm down so he could feel he was living the life of a normal teenager. At the time I asked her about his diet – both before he began experiencing alarming symptoms and also during his recovery period. She told me the doctor clearly said he could eat whatever he wanted because diet has nothing to do with it. Huh???

Dealing With the Fruit or the Root? It Makes a Difference!

Unless you get to the root or cause of a problem, you are forever dealing with fruit! You’ll never resolve the problem that way. Many doctors are focused on simply treating symptoms (fruit) and managing pain (fruit – again). Pain is not necessarily a bad thing – God created your body to “speak” to you and tell you what it needs in order to be healthy. When you are not providing those things, you may begin experiencing pain or some other symptom. Your body is trying to get your attention! PAY ATTENTION!!

Health or Wholeness - You Choose

I believe health and wholeness are two distinct things. They are related, but wholeness is so much more than simply “health” as we usually think of it. When someone says they want to be healthy, they usually refer to losing weight, getting blood sugar or cholesterol under control, cleaning up ...

How Your Attitude Affects Nutrition

Eating clean, healthy foods and exercising are part of the puzzle. A new study reveals a positive attitude and mindset could be the missing piece. Quantum Level Faith

As Christians we know that faith is the substance of things hoped for (Hebrews 11:1). So, faith is a thing – a substance. It’s not a substance like a chair or a car. It is not a visible, solid, or at least what appears to us as a solid, substance. But it is a substance none-the-less. In ...

Green is Good for You!

A client of mine called me today. She has been taking spirulina capsules in place of a multi as I suggest. She noticed when she ran out of them, not only did she have less energy, but she began craving sugar. Now that may just be how it affects her, but I thought it was very interesting. Then she mentioned that she bought spirulina powder instead of the capsules by mistake and found that it clumped up when she tried to stir it into water.

Wallace Wattles, author of “The Science of Getting Rich” said: “Successful actions are cumulative in their results.” What that says to me is this: whatever your goal, if you desire a specific outcome, you have to take consistent, specific action.

Pressing the Same Elevator Button and Wondering Why You're Not Moving?

I was visiting my son, Chris, in the hospital. I found my way to the elevator in the Main Lobby and pressed the up button. The doors slid open and I stepped in. I pressed the button and the door opened. I thought someone must’ve pushed the elevator button outside. I looked and saw no one, so I pressed the button again and again the elevator stayed put and the doors opened. It took me one more try (in my defense it was early in the morning) before I realized that while I was on the Main Lobby level and wanted to get to the fifth floor, I kept pushing the ML button!

Why You Should Invest in a Health Coach

Have you ever gone to your doctor, knowing you need to lose weight, only to have him or her say, just eat less and exercise more? Or perhaps they told you to start tracking your calories and keep them under a certain number. Those are very generic recommendations and depending on why you are overweight to begin with they may or may not even work. One of the very first weight loss clients I ever worked with completed her food logs and questionnaire and my first comment was that she wasn’t eating enough! In some instances, that can stall weight loss and in her case it was.

Health and Nutrition Quality not Color is What Matters

“For starters, you can't just "cook out" the chemicals and carcinogens in conventional meat, so if the animal lived in a CAFO and received artificial hormone injections, antibiotics to stave off E. coli or Salmonella, ate genetically modified feed, was depressed it's whole short life and was abused and possibly tortured before its death, then it really doesn't matter if it's red or white meat -- it's all one digestive nightmare.
